Ok, so I have to write a college essay for my application and one of the topics I have to write about is

"Choose an issue of importance to you?the issue could be personal, school related, local, political, or international in scope?and write an essay in which you explain the significance of that issue to yourself, your family, your community, or your generation."

But I can't think of anything good to write about! Does anyone have any ideas?

If all you want to do is bull**** it, I'd say pick something political. Health care, the wars, anything. They're probably the easiest subjects to make stuff up about. However if you were able to think of something actually important to you, that'd probably be even easier than making stuff up.

It's very easy to tell when someone's writing about a topic they aren't passionate about so don't try and make it up.
