Bored of MW2...

Recommended Posts

Well MW2 was my first FPS game on the console, I used to play them on the PC. I admit that while the online part is fun, for me it losses its appeal quickly. Even on the PC version I only played MW online for a few weeks adn then it gathered dust and I never wnt back.

I've had a blast, and tried every challenge there is online. I've completed the SP in normal and I have no reason to go through again on hardened or veteran. I'm no trophy ######.

If I keep the game I maybe will jump online a few times, but always being strapped for cash I could sell/trade-in and get another 1 or 2 older games (e.g. Killzone 2). I'd expect to make my money back or even a slight profit as I bought the game for ?26:DD

What you think?

Aye, it does lose the appeal very quickly. This game has to be the most random, the most luck based piece of casual-crap in a very long time! Yes, it may be harsh words but that's how I feel. There's way too much focus on having the right setup for the right situation at the right time - Back in the day where the player's skills, reaction times and knowledge of the maps that gave you the advantage, meaning lots of training would get you ahead - Now the game is 100% focused on having the right class, perk or attachment at the right time, even the most blind and useless player in the world can suddenly get a great round because he created the right class and got a lucky killstreak.

It was bearable in Call of Duty 4, because it felt like a great first person shooter underneath with some variation sprinkled on top on the shape of perks. Now the game has been smothered in this game, one perk / Attachment more game changing than the other. So yes, it's fun for a week or two but the hype about games like Counter-strike was the sense, the game rewarded you for being good - MW2 rewards you for lucky choices, nothing else! So you don't think "I'm gonna boot up MW2 and have a night of fun", you think "Should I? Because it's either going to frustrate the hell out of me or give me a great experience" and personally, I don't want to make that choice when starting up a game.

Plus with all this host advantage and stuff going around, even being able to aim properly is out the window ... And the consoles have that casual-tard minded aim-assist, so even the retarded kid next door can get a kill.

So when the fun in trying out perks, weapons and attachments have been exhausted, the core of the game has nothing more to offer because it's being killed by the aforementioned.

I thought aim-assist is disabled in MP, at-least I don't notice it as I do in SP.

I must admit the game was hyped to hell, its nowhere near as good as the original. But the original p*ssed me off due to the constant spamming of air-support.

I totally agree with the "luck" aspect some nights I have a great game, other truly awful. But I'm no expert at FPS, even on the PC. But I prefer the more tactics than gun-ho aproach, like SWAT4 or Americas Army. MW2 just seems to be people running about, I've only had a few games where my team actually spoke to you and had tactics, those where the best games I had but I find them rarely ... :(

O no its there at least on the 360. I constantly have my sights move all the sudden onto a enemy.

I think the luck is insane in this game. I run silencer, cold blooded, and ninja pro, and yet I have been randomly picked off by some spray and pray(shooting at a wall hoping for a kill) this stuff is getting old fast. Also some stupid machine pistol is going to kill me faster because they have stopping power and I don't?

i liked BF:BC above CoD:MW and MW2, mainly from the vehicles, which changes it up somewhat.

but also mostly in a tank on the other end of the map lobbing shells

I'll go play BF Bad Company 2 now.

The SP campaign was way too short and why the hell are only a few of the maps available in free-for-all? I'm not sorry I bought it though. I seemed to be doing alright against other people for awhile, but now I'm getting creamed constantly since I'm so far behind in rank and practice.

Sadly I bet it gets any user voted award. I mean look at VGA MW2, L4D2, UC2, and Batman. IMO only Batman and UC2 deserve to be on that list. Dragon Age would have challanged if it wasn't for all the crap the console ports have taken.

I'm glad I'm not alone in my thoughts then, and glad I picked the game up for ?26. I would never have paid the full price anyway I only bought due tothat> price.

Hopefully I'll get my money back, or more when trading in or I might ebay it.

Maybe I'm just getting old, online gaming isn't as fun as it was:pp

I hate FPS on consoles and on PC.

I had to sell WaW because the gameplay felt so boring.

MW2 - I am replaying single player and I am hardly bored of MP.

The game is that great. I may even get the first MW when it gets cheaper.

So you prefer to play FPS in real life?

MW2 looks the same was MW, nothing really new of a breakthrough. BF: BC 2 is going to look better than crysis when it comes out.

Hows the MP on that?

Thinking of picking it up soon :)

Well I certainly prefered it to MW2 although it's a lot darker colour palette and a slower pace. The game seemed to give you much more of a chance against others though.

Noticed it for ?15 in Sainsbury this morning in original case, I guess clearing stock due to platinum release.

    • This sounds like underneath the nice marketing spin, either someone at Adobe got tired of their lazy devs and asked Microsoft to help them sort at least some of Adobe's ancestral spaghetti code to make it go faster, or Microsoft wanted Adobe's crap to run better on Windows to make it look better when compared to Apple, so they offered to intervene. Either way, GOOD.
    • My favorite file manager for Windows 11 finally gets a long-requested feature by Taras Buria Files is among the best File Explorer alternatives for Windows 10 and 11. This free app is packed with all sorts of features and conveniences, but there is one crucial feature that is still missing—Tree View. Fortunately, the latest update in the Preview channel finally delivers it. With version 4.1.4, which is now available for download in the Preview channel, developers implemented Tree View, a new mode that displays folders in an expandable hierarchy. Windows 11's stock File Explorer always had this feature, but it was nowhere to be found in Files until now. Starting with the latest preview update, you can expand each drive and its nested folders without leaving the current location and then open the folder you need in the main view. To try Tree View in Files, update the app to the latest preview version, then click the small arrow next to a drive to expand its content. The developers say they are rolling out Tree View in Preview first to gather feedback from users and improve the feature before bringing it to all in the stable channel. In addition to Tree View, Files 4.1.14 improves the Windows Fonts folder. You can now preview each font directly in Files with no need to open the built-in font viewer. For now, these two features are only available in the Preview channel. For those using the stable release, developers recently released version 4.1.3, with improvements for the built-in tag system, on-demand folder size calculation, and plenty of various fixes. You can check out the full release notes here. You can download Files from the Microsoft Store (paid version) or its official website (free).
    • Who is paying for this 30x scale-up? Its sounds expensive.
    • Millions of users to benefit from Windows 11's new performance boost on Adobe Photoshop by Sayan Sen Despite the advent of AI-generated imagery, Adobe's Photoshop remains one of the most popular tools on this planet. Adobe does not have a publicly reported total user count but it's probably not wrong to assume there are millions. As of 2025, Adobe Creative Cloud has had approximately 41 million paid subscribers, many of whom likely use Photoshop. In addition, more than 166,000 companies worldwide are apparently also using the app. These figures are according to a very recent report by SQ Magazine. Out of them, it is fair to assume that many are probably running Windows. As such, there is good news for these users as Microsoft has announced Photoshop is getting a big 20% performance boost on x86-64 (AMD64) systems and a 13% bump-up on Arm devices. This is definitely great news for them as many have complained about the slow performance and general sluggishness of Photoshop on Windows 11 ever since the advent of the latter back in 2021. If you are wondering how Microsoft managed to do this, the answer lies in a combination of compiler-level optimizations and a technology called Sample Profile Guided Optimization (SPGO). According to Microsoft, Adobe worked closely with the company’s Visual C++ team and adopted the latest MSVC toolchain enhancements together with SPGO to squeeze more performance out of Photoshop’s CPU-bound workloads. Unlike traditional Profile Guided Optimization (PGO), which requires developers to create special instrumented builds and run lengthy training workloads, SPGO gathers performance data directly from optimized release binaries. This means Adobe could collect real-world usage information which gives a major advantage to this technique, as companies could leverage data collected from actual customer workloads rather than only relying on synthetic benchmark runs. In theory, this should allow optimizations to better reflect how users interact with software in the real world. Thanks to this, there are improvements to code layout, function inlining, hot-and-cold code separation, and other low-level tweaks that help processors execute instructions more efficiently. Essentially the compiler is better able to identify “hot” code paths, those which are most frequently executed, and optimize them accordingly.
