At least one service or driver failed during system startup

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have got domain environment (AD win2003 server) under Event Viewer (Application and System and DNS Server) I have got couple of Event IDs.

I know that Google is our friend but I got confused which Event IDs should I examine

The error message that I have been experiencing is the snapshot below

At least one service or driver failed during system startup. Use Event Viewer to examine the event log for details.

I have got lengthy Event Viewer (Specially for Applications but not DNS Server) therefore I did not post them

Edit:

And System

Thanks

Could u please be more specific

I did not get that

Thanks

If you have a printer installed on your PC, it can be mapped to your terminal session (see attached screenshot).

If the target server doesn't have drivers for it, it will show the error you see.

ok, posting that message without any event logs is about as useless as this:

Have you seen my chicken, I have lost it somewhere and I can't remember where? Please help me find my chicken. I am so lost without it. Would you be so kind to find my chicken, and if it isn't too much of a bother send me 500,000 in small unmarked bills? If I can't find my chicken I am going to fly around the world looking for it. Damn chickens constantly running around with their heads cut off.

Dear Shushpanzer is that related to my thread in this forum ? Are u saying that the error message I have been experiencing might be from a printer ?

which printer that is installed on a server or a workstation ?

Thanks

It is quite clearly related. This error can be caused by the system trying to map a printer from your workstation and getting an error because no driver is installed. This only happens when you connect to your server via RDP, not physically (btw, you don't mention HOW you are connecting to it).

If this error appears in RDP session, try to disable RDP printer sharing, if physically - it may need a deeper look.

I see yes you are right.

I have got 3 usb printers connected to different workstations PCs and they have not go drivers installed on the server.

I would not have received any error via RDP.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,which version of RDP is your snapshot ? is for Vista OS or windows 7 ?

I have seen it only yesterday when I conneted monitor and keyboard to the server.

Ignore all this rubbish about printers and Remote Desktop for the moment as it's complete nonsense until we actually work out which service is not starting.

Check the System log for Error 7000 from Service Control Manager (you should see it just before or after an entry for Application Popup) - that entry will tell which which service it is that isn't starting and then we can try some proper diagnosis and troubleshooting rather than people just throwing random suggestions in the air.

Edit - Just checking the log you've posted, it looks like there was an entry at 10:15 yesterday, which I'm guessing is the last time the server was restarted.

Yes around that time I was working with the server.

ASInsHelp is apparently related to ASUS Cool&Quiet which doesn't get removed correctly when uninstalling

- Service: ASInsHelp, error: "The system cannot find the file specified" - This issue apparently occurs after removing the ASUS Cool&Quiet software. From a newsgroup post: "To turn off this service, which does not seem to be uninstalled after removing the ASUS Cool&Quiet software or drivers, go to device manager -> view -> show hidden devices -> look under Non-Plug and Play Drivers and you will see it right at the top. It will probably have the yellow exclamtion point on it since the file is apparently missing (And cannot be found when searching the Asus CD). Access it, and on the driver tab, change the startup type to disabled".

See part way down here - http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid...ger&phase=1

I logged in to the server now (via VPN) The program have not been uninstalled yet, I have just uninstalled ,,,do I need to restart the server to see if the message still popes up ?

Thanks
