[Steam] Holiday Sale

Recommended Posts

I thinking of getting GTA4, just for the ease of not having to faff about with the long installation next time I install. I got Mirrors Edge + Stalker, along with Braid for ?1.74

Suprised to see, even with the sale, I'm still hitting my peak download of 1.7mb/s. Good job Steam (Y)

Seems a lot of people are picking up S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Read the description on Steam, looks like a bit of fun. And at that price, it's a steal.

Yeah I was maxing out at 2.3MB/s for the TF2 update, was impressive since the update was just out.

I would like to buy some of these games, but I'm in Malaysia. Can I buy these games and what method should I use?

In the end here's what I went for:

  • Mirrors Edge
  • World of Goo
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R
  • Braid
  • SafeCracker

And all for the amazing price of ?12.10. Merry Christmas Steam (Y)

I've no idea but if it helps, I paid for my games using Paypal rather than using a credit card.

I was puzzled why GTA4 wasn't included in the last batch of Holiday deals. Seemed like an obvious choice!

Glad it's on offer now, was not expecting it for so cheap though. That's a very good buy :)

Is it worth a buy on the PC ? Remember reading it was a buggy performance nightmare.

Braid, Shadowgrounds, Borderlands DLC and GTA IV.

Should keep me fairly occupied.

Absolutely brilliant sale, can't wait for the new special sales to come up. Also tempted to pick up World in Conflct and expansion. Played the original title but not the expansion but I already have so much to play.

But for an extra fiver you can buy it from Play.com and have the physical disc. To me at least, that seems the better deal.

Meh Steam will be around for a fair few years based on it's current standing and by then GTA IV will be a distant memory only visible in my 'games to install list'. If they go sometime soon Valve committed themselves to releasing DRM work arounds, if that doesn't happen and I still play the games that are affected by Steams demise then other measures can be taken :shiftyninja:

I wasn't thinking about the DRM side so much. For an extra fiver I'd rather have the box, disc and avoid the 13gb or whatever download. But that's me.

Some nice deals for adventure gamers:

Broken Sword 3 ?2.49

Beyond Good and Evil ?2.49

Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit) ?3.05

I'd rather have a hassle-free installation, automatic updates and being able to download and install games via Steam without having to frantically search for the CD/DVD.

But that's just me.

Indigo prohpecy is lame, well for graphics wise. To switch resolutions, you have to go through all the resolutions (fail right here) and it doesn't support widescreen. Have fun hex editing it! I know I will.

    • I think I understood the article fine. Online password managers open users up to more possibilities of getting hacked, and due to KeePass being offline and local it reduces the idea of getting hacked. If someone chooses to put their database online they're kinda missing the point. With regards to the idea of the on-prem idea, I would have two issues. I'm not sure about the first issue, but I wouldn't be surprised about them offering a cloud storage for the passwords that most wouldn't bother to switch off, regardless of if they went for on-prem or not. The second issue is that the on-prem solution for Bitwarden costs money, whereas KeePass is free and open-source (as far as I am aware). The article points out how to sync the database between devices, and I recognise that deficiency in security. But it isn't a necessity. So both services can offer a same idea, but one is free and the other isn't...choices, choices.... But to each their own.

    • I am not surprised because life is the product of a lot of biochemical and physical processes that releases various energies as a by-product. The only thing new here is the detection of these photon emissions. The researches noted this "glow" is not a metaphysical one. They don't even immediately end when one is dead. Things like fires, light bulbs, and on a bigger scale stars release a lot more "light" and they are hardly alive.
