[Steam] Holiday Sale

I was hoping for a deal on Mass Effect. I have the 360 version but I would imagine it is a lot better on the PC.

The problem I face is that I have such a huge backlog already that adding more games would be stupid.... However not buying the games at these prices would also be stupid!

I'm facing this dilemma too.

The other question I'm facing is do I want to play Mass Effect 2 on the PC (better controls) or Xbox 360 (37" TV screen)...

EDIT: I just bought "Time Gentleman Please" for ?1.50 - thought it was worth a go at that price! I'd like to see a reduction on Modern Warfare 2 please...

It was on sale a few weeks ago for $10. Playing the game at 1920x1200 on a PC with AA maxed is sweet bliss that no console gamers can enjoy. >:D Nothing beats mouse and keyboard for FPS's either.

You are correct, it is way better. On top of higher resolution graphics they made some great improvements to the interface to take the mouse and keyboard into account, it isn't a direct port.

Would anyone recommend any decent multiplayer games? FPS preferably, though an RTS or RPG is good too

Borderlands. It's multiplayer and an FPS with RPG elements. If you want RPG's, then I suggest looking at Fallout 3 and Mass Effect.

Yeah, bit disappointing. Only one I like the look of is Left 4 Dead 2, which I already have.

It's still too expensive. :p I guess I'm going to be skipping it and leave my multiplayer gaming to TF2 only. The current deals are much weaker than the previous ones.

Did anyone notice that Steam's still selling the previous offers at the sale price?

Yeah, you're not missing much if you had L4D before. Let's just hope that they're saving all the awesome deals for Christmas Day :p

Left 4 Dead 2 ?17.99 at Play.com cheaper than the current Steam holiday special.

Not too impressed with today's specials :(

EDIT

Can save yourself some money and order from Amazon for a pound cheaper.

Left 4 Dead 2 Amazon ?16.97

Their servers are really slow. I can usually max out my connection but I'm running at 25% of my max speed right now.

It's not downloading at all for me now. I've got 19 of the 22 id games downloaded, but the other 3 aren't downloading at all now. The best it got to maxing out my connection so far was when I was downloading Doom 3, I hit 3MB/s, but there was still a fair amount left to max out.

I bought GTA4 the other day at the super cheap price - left it downloading for about 7 hours and only got about 30% through the download! Had to pause it and will resume it when I get back home after xmas.

I wonder how is it possible that MW2 still on the top sellers list, who the heck is still buying this game?

By now one would think that everyone who was willing to pay for that overpriced console port has already gotten it.

Anyways, today deals aren't that great.

    • Exactly. They won't go 100 because current gen consoles are simply too old for any groundbreaking graphics or gaming experience otherwise. They will go with standard (console) price 70 or go with 80 if they really want to go premium. Of course they will have more expensive options too with some useless cosmetics as always.
    • Doesn’t surprise me at all. God is light & He gave us life so it sounds almost logical that we would therefore emit a certain amount of light.
    • This is what I want. Hey Gemini, how do I remove you from all my google products permanently?
    • I would never install install this build before rtm process. only 3 months to go. never install on your daily devices. just wait 3 months.
