Warhammer 40K & Fantasy

Recommended Posts

I used to play 40K quite a bit - Space Marines and Imperial Guard (still have all my minis too), and just got into Fantasy before the shop I played at stopped holding game nights (started collecting Dwarfs).

I also played a bit of Battlefleet Gothic and Heavy Gear.

After that I got more into CCGs (Magic:TG, Star Wars, NetRunner) than I had been previously since they were cheaper, easier to carry around, and I could start a game anywhere.

Yeah the TCG are nice but I havn't found a place to really play it close to me. A Games-workshop though opened 5mins from my house so that makes it easy.

Just began this hobby 2 months ago. It get's expensive pretty fast !

Right now I have a Lizardmen army (1 batallion + 1 Saurus Warrior box). I just got a Chaos Warrior box from GW yesterday. I prefer painting Chaos Warriors right now but still, I think I'll collect both armies.

Yeah Chaos warriors are pretty cool looking. But just remember the more armies the more expensive lol.

I used to have one hell of a Space Marines army. Can't remember much but had terminators heavy guns, ball Preadtor, Dante and his crew, and Magnus Kelgar???

Used to love painting them, and creating bunkers etc to fight in, always though the imperial guards were a lame version of the Space marines, and always hated going up against the genestealers.

Haven't played it in years, but the cousins are starting to get to that age now, so may impart my wisdom/army on them.

Ah - I bought some Space Wolves about 2 months ago, unfortunately due to university I've not had time to paint anything ! Just got half a drop-pod done ! I am not really looking to play, just looking to paint them, always did like the look of the models, hopefully I can get some done soon !

When I get these done I might buy some Grey Knights, they're great !

imperial guard were a brilliant army to play with because you had to be so tactical and be really really smart to win

needless to say i rarely won :P

Anyone have any comments on the up coming Ultramarines film? Or the new 'Space Marine' game coming out on the consoles?

I've just finished Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising.

It was great, really gripping. I got it pre-order however so paid a great deal for it...I kinda feel like the game was a little short for what I paid (still a great game though), unless I'm missing something?

In the original you could put off doing storyline missions for ages by doing the random missions which crop-up all over the place.

In this, you get a few random missions but they don't keep popping up. Once they are done you have to move onto the story mission.

I'm going to try they game on the hardest setting to see if that changes anything...also I might turn to Chaos this time round :D (That will most likely open up more missions).

This topic is now closed to further replies.

    • Web search has been one of those crap ware that I try to get rid of asap. It's annoying and slow. It was a cheap way for Microsoft to drive traffic to Bing.
    • All I can say is that think the USB G8 is better in many ways, and costs the same or slightly less. I wouldn't part with mine. It's even a big improvement over the G6 USB. (You can also use studio phones (up to 600 OHMs I think) with the G8, but I have to say that even relatively cheap 30-50 OHM phones sound absolutely great--far better than through most internal motherboard sound!) Considering the difference in these products I am surprised that Creative is still making the PCIe internal card versions. https://www.headphoneer.com/cr...ve-sound-blaster-g8-review/
    • I missed this when you first posted it, but those are awesome icons! I would normally prefer things to be uniform, but each of those icons seems to fit perfectly for the game! If I may ask though, what was your thought process on which icons are circular - MK makes sense - and which ones should be rectangular or square?
    • What I like about Paint is using it almost exclusively for cropping and resizing images I get elsewhere--it's quick, easy and cheap... I keep it glued to my taskbar, in fact. Also, the clipping tool comes in handy, as well (hit print scrn on the keyboard and it activates immediately.)
    • I still remember it fondly today. It was so cool to work in 64-color Half Bright mode and 4.096-color HAM mode (interlaced) when x86 was still in 4-color CGA or 16-color EGA low res. C= never realized what it had until it was far too late--the failure of C= was the failure of its top management. The C= Amiga was 20 years ahead of its time, I always thought. It didn't hurt that in only 512k of chip memory, the Amiga could preemptively multitask when Apple was still doing gray scale graphics on tiny screens and along with everyone else was doing cooperative multitasking (running more than one app at a time in resident memory, but you could only run one of them at a time--had to manually switch between them.) I had a ball with AREXX scripting running between programs that had AREXX ports so that when you sent other applications data and instructions, those running applications could process the same in real time to output!
