Must Have Titles

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what the Neowin PS3 Community can recommend as 'must-have' titles for the PS3! Just got mine for Christmas, and I'm looking at buying a few extra games, like 2-3, hopefully at marked down prices because they're not new releases.

So far I have MW2 and Ratchet and Clank, and will probably end up getting Fallout 3. Any other suggestions? I'd like at least one other game with a great MP as well.

Depends on your taste. If you are into racing games, definitely have some spare cash for GT5. If you have extra spare cash, you may want to whet your appetite with the Prologue Version out now (Sorry, avid fan of GT and simulation racing games in general). It have online as well.

Definitely take a look at Uncharted 2, the original is also a stellar game in its day, and it still matches up to what is on offer now. It should be dirt cheap. Call of Duty 4 also have people still playing online. And I say is worth playing BOTH Modern Warefare, COD4 has arguably better online maps than MW2.

If you are looking into Fallout 3, definitely take a look at Elders Scroll: Oblivion. Get the Game of the Year edition if you can.

Otherwise, it depends on tastes really. Dragon Age, Demons Soul, Valkyria Chronicles is worth a look for the RPG fan. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 (and original), Devil May Cry 4, and Bayonetta (English version out soon I think) is almost definitely quality games if you are into action games of the sword slashing variety with good difficulty. Of course, Tekken 6 is a good game to have on hand if you sometimes have mates over, or Soul Calibur. Both of these arcade style games also have online.

Other older titles you may want to look at is Metal Gear Solid 4 and Folklore. Hakuna Matata/Afrika may be dated now but is a good PS3 show off game (could you get it locally in US? If not and if you could find cheap import, remember to buy Hakuna version as it also in English)

You likely won't find it marked down, but Uncharted 2 is a brilliant and amazing game with great online MP, as many many people will likely tell you.

Yes, I've noticed in all the lurking I've done that UC:2 virtually receives universal praise. It's $50 on Amazon, so I could consider it. That still leaves room for around 2 other cheaper games.

I'm more into the shooting/sports games, might be looking into checking out the RPG scene as well.

and uhhh

Valkyria Chronicles, epicly under-appreciated.

PSN has a ton of good content, at bitesize prices, I'd maybe start there. If you like Pool get Hustle Kings it's god damn awesome. Warhawk is on sale right now as well and still has a big community, albeit most of them will be regulars and probably own you.

I like titties too. I'd like to get my hand's on Selma Hyak's.

Ahaha, I thought the same thing when I saw the thread title.

Anyways, I'm going to give (another) shout out for WipEout HD. I've poured more hours into that game than any other PS3 game by far. Easily one of the best racing games I've ever played, my favorite PS3 game (even more than UC2 and MGS4), and it shouldn't be very expensive by this point (it never was, in fact). Note that it's a digital download and not a physical disk.

And LOL at sonicstylz. Love that list. The US government ought to be using those games to torture terror suspects. ;)

Rogue Warrior, Haze, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, Liesure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust, Vampire Rain: Altered Species, Lair

LAIR!? lol

epically bad game. i bought it on a whim and thought "hmm, it's cheap, why not." WOW it's terrible. i only beat it out of spite...

anyways, my recommendations are:

Uncharted/Uncharted 2

both Ratchet's

MGS4

Modern Warfare 2 (unless you can get it for PC :p )

damn, im drawing a blank... what else?

Rogue Warrior, Haze, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, Liesure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust, Vampire Rain: Altered Species, Lair

Awesome list

There are a lof of great PSN games. PixelJunk games are my favorites. PJ Monster, PJ Eden and PJ Shooter.

Fat Princess

Mushroom Wars

Warhawk

Wipeout HD

Flower

Trine

Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty (you should play the first one before this one)

too hard for you?

[Completely off topic, my apologies] That game is actually in a fantastic position come to think of it. Whenever anybody throws any amount of criticism in DS's direction, the sure-fire reply is always: "oh you couldn't handle it eh?". I wonder if there are a lot of people who are afraid to speak up for fear of being labelled as noobs. Just a random though, and a haven't played the game yet, so....

[slightly more on topic] I'm trying to think of an MP game since you said you wanted one, but it's pretty tough to think of any "must-play" multiplayer games on the PS3 (apart from MW2 which you already listed). My buddies and I have been getting a lot of play out of NHL 10, but if you're not a fan of the NHL, then no amount of convincing is going to make you like it ;). Perhaps just keep your eyes peeled for Bad Company 2 next year.

You guys are missing the point that Sethos was just trying to **** with AB and his love for DS.

This should make PageMaster much more useful for producing smaller output PDFs directly from assembled or reorganized documents. The release also contains a large PageMaster refresh with improved drag and drop, recent files, crop pages, save/restore functionality, rotation and size indicators, a reworked icon set, and faster output preview rendering. Viewer and Editor workflows were improved with wildcard Advanced Find, Enter-to-search behavior, better outline keyboard selection, startup settings, fullscreen support, side-to-side scrolling, smoother scrolling, text selection, snapping, and expanded annotation controls. Compatibility and platform behavior were improved as well, including fixes for embedded files, fonts, checkboxes, invisible text, menu colors, highlights, XMP metadata, Windows color management, AppImage packaging, MSIX generation, installer behavior, translations, and newer compiler/Qt warnings. The commit history also includes a new scan-and-edit plugin foundation and color management performance work. • If you go to the game developer website you can see that indeed Cyril Paciullo is the game director and developer https://www.pluralys.ca/about-us/ and when clicking on his name it lists Messenger Plus! as part of his CV. In case you wondered what happened to Patchou
    • A difficult position to be in. Either they cater to us users or they cater to news curators to potentially increase traffic. Personally, I wasn't being sarcastic. Hosting a website isn't free, so without traffic this site stops existing, and if you want traffic you have to play the game. I legitimately thought the title was good. Not because I like it, but because it's the kind of title people will click on. This site needs that.
