We use Splenda a lot. I'm really not sure why we started using it or why we continue using it. We just do.

After looking at the chemistry behind these artificial sweeteners, I have gained a new respect for them - aspartame and neotame in particular. The latter is so simple, yet ingenious, and the mechanism of aspartame metabolism is pretty elegant.

I'd rather not ingest the chemicals that compose these sweeteners.

Anyway, I have no preference. Whatever comes in my Coke Zero or Pepsi Max. At home I use proper sugar. When I'm calory watching, rather than avoid it I tend to avoid the foods that require so much sweetening.

I work at a chemical company, and am not fond of the idea of artificial sweeteners.

All those fake substitutes taste "funny" to me and they don't always work well in recipes either.

I can't imagine baking with artificial sweetener.. the flavours and textures could never be right..

I don't use artificial sweeteners because a) they don't taste very good (imho) and b) I've had digestion problems from some of them before.

Not for me thanks. I try to avoid any kind of sweetener.

We use Canderel.

Why? Because both me and my dad are diabetic, so putting raw sugar into things isn't clever. With that being said, we don't use much. The jar we have atm is probably well out of date.

If I'm cooking I just use natural sugar, I never use sweeteners. As far as pre-packaged food and drink goes, I generally don't care.
