Trying to fix someone's PC and the problem as the title says. It doesn't recognize JUST the mouse, it keyboards, USBs, and etc but not the mouse.

I tried to remove value in Upper and Lowerfilters but there is no such a thing in the registry plus I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but still have that problem. Any suggestions people? Thanks.

Btw, I installed XP on another HDD and it works just fine so I don't think that there is a hardware problem, right? Thanks in advanced.

have you tried shutting down the system and then adding the device.

also sometimes XP in my experience can be a little slow detecting human interfaces such as mice. have you tried leaving it to sit for 5 mins to see if anything pops up?

i'm not the best person to give advice, and this scenario is rather new in my experience. normally its ps/2 mice that give me grief lol.

as a last resort try rubbing linseed oil into your triceps

And yes, as DKComputers said, you have shut down at least once, correct? PS/2 mice cannot be added when the PC is running.

I did try the mice on other pc's and they work just fine. I shutdown but still have the problem.

You should check the device manager in Windows XP just to see if theres a fault with the mouse driver.

To do this on a keyboard:

Hit Windows Key + R to get the Run dialog up, then type "devmgmt.msc" (Without quotes) and hit enter.

Already tried it and the ps/2 was yellow which means there is a prob with it so I uninstalled/reinstalled but still have the problem. I tried almost EVERYTHING but still not working. :(

I would just probably do a repair install of Windows at this stage, just to rule everything else out.

Strange problem indeed.

Yeah, you're right I'll do that tomorrow 'cause I'm done for today. Thanks for the help people. Very strange problem tbh. :)
