They used to race in conditions much worse than this, ridiculous.

Did you see the track condition during the safety car laps? The track is too wet for F1 cars. At race speed they'd be aquaplaning off the track left and right.

I disagree. Plus the faster they go the more water they clear and the more spaced out they will be. F1 like many sports is taking the excitement out with too many regulations and restrictions.

Plus the ridiculous race start times to appease overseas viewers.

The drivers would disagree with you. Keep in mind that the track surface is brand new and slippery enough in the dry. Under the current conditions it's simply too dangerous.

As the safety car went down the straight at the end of lap 2/start of lap 3 the amount of water it was kicking off was pretty amazing. That said 5 safety car laps then let them go. Faster they go the faster the water disappears. By the time you have done a lap with the safety car the water that was cleared lap before hand has been filled in again. Rain predicted for another 20 mins.

I seriously doubt he'll have the same attitude if he was in the lead in the championship right now, as opposed to having next to nothing to lose.

im not so sure. hami always loves to race in the rain.

if there is justice alonso will suffer 2 dnfs in the next 2 races.

let you remember alonso is the greatest cheater in f1. he goth ferrari in front of the world motorsport council and he cheated his way to the win in hockenheim.

cant feel happy that this character-nightmare could really win this year :(

Great race once the SC period was over. Alonso is a deserved - albeit lucky - winner.

This year's season is one of the most entertaining I've seen in decades. Bring on Brazil!

Well

My first comment... Modern F1 drivers are a bunch of nancies. 10 years ago they would have jumped into the cars and just gotten the hell on with it. I can understand the need for safety, bur frankly I think a line was crossed today, the safety car was out for far longer than it needed to be.

As for the race itself... once it got going, it was a real thriller, and we see yet another massive championship thriller. Just love the unpredictability this season has been throwing up. However, I believe that Button is essentially out of it, and if Red Bull want to beat Alonso their best bet would be to focus on webber now, so although Button and Vettel are mathematically still in it, I feel we are effectlvely down to 3 contenders now. Bitterly bad luck for Vettel, if it wasn't for the horrible luck he has had with reliability he would have already taken the championship by now. Shame for Red Bull as well as it looked as if they had largely gotten on top of their reliability issues.

Thumbs up for the track as well. Produced great action all through the weekend.

I agree - RBR have to focus on Webber now if they want to have any chance of winning the WDC.

Alonso has one problem: Engines. He's already used 8 engines this season; for the remaining two races he's going to have to re-use an older engine and hope nothing breaks. This could play in Webber's hands. Keep in mind that both Brazil and Abu Dhabi are a real strain on the engines.

with the ammount of luck alonso is gifted this year non of his engine will break. before that, another engine on vettels car will blow up or hami gets another dnf.

im willing to make every bet on that.

I believe his 7th engine has only done one race, and his 8th engine is on it's second. His engine situation is more manageable than it seems. Of course, as webber did relatively few laps he has nothing to worry about, as long as Vettel's failure was a one off issue rather than something like a batch issue. Personally I really can't see the engine situation making a huge amount of difference, Webber has a small amount of leeway but other than that it's practically equal.

thanks for the rain, otherwise this would have been another procession :p

RBR's renault failed b'coz they ran far longer than race time (2hours)? :p

Why didnt Webber apply brakes when he was going backwards, after crashing?

    • When you're in enterprise IT environment, you're kinda forced into it...otherwise I'm not touching any mail client for personal use.  I can't stand New Outlook. It's complete trash - half the features I need in (Classic) Outlook are just missing in New Outlook. I haven't talked to a single person who actually likes the new client.
    • I think it's cute that Apple is implementing their tools at precisely the same evolutionary level as other devices' tools. In other words, I see no innovation; it's "the same but different." "Hey Siri, help me write this document about shoes." Powered by Google. "Sure thing, while we're here, can I interest you on some Nike's? They're on sale at Target right now!"
    • Walmart was still selling the Apple Watch SE 2 on Black Friday in 2024. I got 1 for my mom and one for my dad for christmas.
    • But apple has ASSURED us that this is private. So, it's private. I expect the same "leeway" shown Microsoft to be reflected here.
