I gave it a shot because I was about to format my Mac anyway, but it seemed kind of buggy and unstable. The Finder would hang and crash, which it didn't do before installing this add-on. After removing it the instability issues ended. Also, I don't care much for the non-standard interface the Finder gets because of it.

It also seems to ignore your Spaces settings, as I keep Finder available on every space, but with this plug-in, Finder windows always show up on one specific space, so I have to waste time moving windows around.

Indeed this Chrome interface in OS X doesn't really have its place... I wish they made something more like Safari.

And I wish we could drag files on tabs and after 3 seconds, it would open this tab. So we could move files from folder to folder easily. Now I need to get the tab out to make a new Finder window and then I can do it.

But hey, this is one of my main requests in OS X in years. Apple has never listened to me, I guess I'll just shut up and be happy with this little plugin :)

Can someone tell me what the 'echelon.kext' does? It says it's an optional install but it installs by default.

According to the Totalfinder Get Satisfaction site:

The echelon kext redirect the .DS_Store file in /usr/local/.dscache instead of having this annoying file in every directory. It's a great idea ! (but a kext can be a little scary of course ..)

You can disable Echelon in TotalFinder preferences.
