Displaying uptime on Mac OS X

hi all, how do you display up time on Mac OS X?

Open up the terminal window and type uptime or w (yes, just the letter w)

[the evn show]

Launch terminal (from /applications/utilities/)

type: uptime

press enter

there are other ways but that's my favorite.

Hehe, well I might have just been a tad faster seeing the topic, I do not know, but I haven't had this apple keyboard two weeks yet and I am already used to it for the most part, except that the alt and apple key are reverse of what the alt and window keys are =P I don't know of any graphical way to display the uptime, i just knew that since OS X was based upon UNIX, it is a good chance that uptime or w would workd. :)

I'm sadly on a standard PC 104-key windows keyboard right now. My type speed is murdered.

Here's another option - if you like applescript:

look under the via applescript option - it uses uptime to display you're uptime but rather than running terminal you can just select "uptime" from a dropdown menu over by the clock.

Ah, well I actually bought a brand new appple pro keyboard from ebay for my pc to replace that huge office xp keyboard MS gave me for free a year or so ago.

I think I tried 'uptime' in the Terminal, however it returned bad command. I'll try again when I'm at home.

Perhaps I haven't installed all the command line tools?

Try "MenuMeters" you config under system prefs and it just sits in the menu bar. The one that shows CPU usage also shows uptime when its clicked. Very good for checking out RAM, net speeds, etc.
