it should fit on a 1024x768 screen, most users use this resolution.. and that's a fact :) but if you want to make it more accessible you should try to make it 800x600.. old company's and most schools (here at least) use 800x600.. depends on who you do you want to reach with your site..

Friend, these things aren't difficult. The idea with good webdesign is to NEVER have to worry about the user's resolution. Many sites build for 800x600 or 1024x768, but neglect to realize that if the sites can't scale for larger resolutions (like my fave, 1600x1200), then they're a pain in the ass. I would just make sure the your site is *rudimentarily* useable at 800x600 and make the site scale to window size. One other thing I would try to keep an eye out for is to see if the site works well in Mozilla. Don't wanna start a flame war, but I use Firebird (since it is so much better than IE, *ahem* haha) and its nice to see sites render properly (like good 'ole neowin.net). WOW, ENOUGH RAMBLING...just my pitiful $.01 ......

P.S. If you don't use a Mozilla browser or Opera, I would download a build of Mozilla Firebird since it doesn't need to be installed-- just unzip and run the .exe file.....

you've left out 1600x1200! i use that on both my monitors = 3200x2400 desktop = sweeet!

actuall a dual 1600x1200 setup is 3200x1200, not 3200x2400...

anyway, i run dual 1280x1024, total 2560x1024. but i normally have browser on only 1 half...

No worries mate, just remember for next time. :)

BTW, I run @ 1280X1024 (a native LCD resolution). I have designed a few websites in the past and I think now the minimum standard resolution is 1024x768, so design your site for that (unless you are aiming for complete compatibility, then design it with 800x600 minimum in mind).

      I wonder how many are laid off for cost savings, and this being blamed on AI to make it sound less scary and bad, for a more positive "modern, with the times" spin for investors? Because Oracle is down 14% the past year. We're also looking at a company struggling here.

While some industry leaders repeatedly say AI won’t lead to massive layoffs, recent data suggest that AI is actually one of the main reasons some companies are reducing their workforce. According to Oracle’s annual regulatory filing, the company has laid off about 21,000 employees, or 13% of its workforce, amid increasing AI adoption. “The adoption and deployment of AI technologies across our operations have resulted, and may continue to result, in reductions to our workforce,” Oracle said in the filing. The software giant now has approximately 141,000 full-time employees, a notable decrease from 162,000 during the same period last year. Restructuring expenses, including severance payments, cost Oracle $1.84 billion in fiscal 2026. Additionally, around 49,000 Oracle employees were based in the U.S., while approximately 92,000 were employed internationally. Like many other companies, Oracle has fully embraced AI and concentrated much of its efforts on the technology. The company is also a key participant in the United States’ $500 billion Stargate Project, which aims to build multiple AI data centers across the country. When it comes to AI adoption and its impact on the workforce, opinions remain divided. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, whose company has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the AI boom, recently said in an interview that attributing job cuts to AI is a “lazy” narrative. “The narrative that connects AI to job loss, for many of the CEOs that are doing it – it is just too lazy. AI has just arrived, how is it possible they're already losing jobs?” Huang said. However, statistics and recent reports tell a different story. According to Layoffs.fyi, 196 tech companies have laid off about 119,800 employees so far this year. Reducing staff and replacing roles with AI agents could become one of the most significant trends in the job market in the years ahead.
