HardSide
New Build: Chip: Intel Core i7-975 Extreme Edition Bloomfield 3.33GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601975 -- I might go with the 960, I don't see the extra .1GHZ as a major factor, nor the QPI for the extra money. Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD7 LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail -- I love the bells and whistles, but I've seen the pics and the reviews, people are complaining about the tight space when putting in graphics cards, which I really don't want to have that problem. Anybody can recommend me anything else? HD: Seagate Savvio 15K.2 ST9146852SS -- This thing is a beast, I can't find anything better then that. Anybody got any opinions on it? Memory: I haven't decided yet, since I'm not too fond with the mobo. So anybody can give some input, I really wanna change the mobo to something better, preferabbly a 6.0 sata since I'll get the HD 6.0 Also need a monitor, which I have no clue about. The motherboard shouldnt be a problem of space since it would be the case that will limit the space of a video card. the above is just advice, not 100% sure, but i am using what i gathered from my own system builds and reading forums and reviews, good luck, if you have any other questions just post here and we should be able to help you :D cheers Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/872472-new-built-need-advice/#findComment-592198886 Share on other sites

Vice
If it were me I'd not bother with the 975. Its expense is unwarranted. And Intel is about to release 6 core processors in the 3.3GHz / 3.6GHz clock range so I'd wait for those before buying any 1366 CPU. iamwhoiam
Get the cheaper CPU and a better aftermarket cooler and OC the CPU. No need to spend the extra $ if you don't need to, unless you don't want to fool with OC'ing.
