[OSx86] Flash Player messed up in 10.5.8

Recommended Posts

Soo after I got my 10.5.8 install back running perfectly (almost...) I noticed my flash player is hardly working. Any Flash Video/Animation is playing insanely fast while the audio is stuttering behind. Yes I installed the latest one from Adobe, no change. The only thing the worked partially was to downgrade to Flash Player 9 r47, audio and video played both at normal speeds just 2-3 secs out of sync. This applies to all browsers, Safari, Firefox, Shiira and even the YouTube Dashboard widget. I'm not even sure if this is a OSx86 problem as I couldn't think of anything that influences the flash player as my HD4850 runs with full QE/CI.

Any help is appreciated!

Hmm, very interesting...

I guess that's better than random Kernel Panics I had, but that was due to an unstable overclock

Have you tried posting the same question over at insanelymac.com/forum? I searched there and couldn't find anything similar to what you're saying :)

Nevermind that I fixed it^^

Here's how for anyone having the same problem:

Make sure OSX detects a sound card, sounds strange but it works.

I have two soundcards in my system, a Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS and a OnBoard Realtek HD Audio ALC888. Neither of these were detected in System Profiler but sound was playing fine. So I just installed a random HDAEnabler.kext, I knew this one wouldn't even work on my system but it made OSX see a sound card. Voila Flash Player fixed...

And I just noticed this caused a big problem... I can't access sound settings anymore which means no Jack for Mac and no dual stereo from my 5.1 system.... back to work >_>

EDIT: Tried a different HDAEnabler.kext and now everything is working! though I noticed Jack for Mac is also messing with Flash... Oh well :p
