Need some feedback, and some general questions :)

Question

I finally re-coded my cms, anyway.

http://beta.manmohanjit.com/

So its powered by PHP and MySQL. Anyway, I used the theme by Room4 Baseline which was originally for WP. Ported it and changed the design a little bit(very little).

Anyway, I need some feedback on the theme, is it nice? okay or just plain ugly?

Also a question, why is my server load 2.x? Is that considered high? The maximum it would go is 4.x.

Thanks :) a lot!

Go download and install Joomla! and try again.

No need to be like that.

I like the simplicity of the template. It's very common look for personal blogs, which is a great place to start because immediately the user knows what to expect.

From what I can tell, the sidebar appears on every page, so I think you could remove either the "categories" button at the top, or the categories list from the sidebar, as they don't really need to be in both places. In fact most of the sidebar content seems to be repeated from the top buttons. You could move the search in to the header area and remove the sidebar altogether.

I'm assuming it's a personal blog, so you'll probably be the only one posting on it. In which case I would remove the "Author: Manmohanjit" feed, as well as the "Posted by Manmohanjit Singh" lines.

@Baines

Thanks. I'll remove it in a while

@sweetsam &+nquinnathome1

I was aiming for a minimal template.

@spikey_richie

I've already worked hard on this CMS.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for the feedback.

I run about 3-5 queries on a page, is that too much? Anyway, what is server load? Is it something to do with PHP files or the static files like images etc?

Is it really toooooooooo plain for a minimal template?

I've seen much more plainer themes on the Wordpress Gallery.

I don't think there is such thing as too minimal, it's just the way you go about it.

The only thing I'm not really liking is the bland template-ness of the design. Maybe adding more variation in the colours and the size of the text to add a bit more "life" could work?

I guess. Anyway I added some text-shadow effects for the title(header). Also decreased the header height. Ajaxed the comments and a smoother navigation.

You guys are amazing, I'll try to improve it :) Thanks.

It's showing up now. I actually really like the subtle changes you've made, definately makes it have a much nicer feel as opposed to before.

I just feel you should do something with the navigation links to make them stand out a bit more from the rest of the links

@P1ckles

Sure, I'll definitely try to improve the typography but right now I need to get some sleep.

Anyway, I removed the sub-domain. Everything is on the main page now. Thanks again to all

Link in your post is broken :laugh:

Nice.

One thing that I noticed is [...] at the end of each post. I think it would be better if you also link that so it shows the entire post, same as clicking on the title.

Sure, I've got nothing to lose :)

    • Microsoft confirms Recycle Bin bug across all versions of Windows by Usama Jawad A couple of days ago, we reported that the latest Patch Tuesday update has seemingly resulted in a lot of issues for many users, including OneDrive and Dropbox access problems, BitLocker recovery lockouts, and BSODs. Although Microsoft is yet to acknowledge these bugs, it has confirmed another, relatively smaller issue across all supported versions of Windows. In an update on its Windows Release Health Dashboard, Microsoft has confirmed that after installing June's Patch Tuesday update (KB5094126), you'll experience unexpected behavior when leveraging Recycle Bin. Basically, when you attempt to delete an item from the Recycle Bin, the confirm dialog will show you the internal file name of that content rather than the actual name. For example, the file may be named abc.png, but the confirm dialog will ask if you're sure that you want to permanently delete $Rxxxxx.png from the Recycle Bin. This is pretty much it for the scope of the bug itself; it just displays the wrong name in the confirm dialog. The correct name will be shown in the list view of the Recycle Bin and if you restore the file, it will return with the correct name as well. This issue affects pretty much all supported versions of Windows client and server, including: Client: Windows 11, version 26H1; Windows 11, version 25H2; Windows 11, version 24H2; Windows 11, version 23H2; Windows 10, version 22H2; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019; Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 Server: Windows Server 2025; Windows Server 2022; Windows Server 2019; Windows Server 2016; Windows Server 2012 R2; Windows Server 2012 As things currently stand, Microsoft is working on a concrete solution that will be released in a "future" Windows update. It remains to be seen if the firm will wait till the next Patch Tuesday or roll out an out-of-band (OOB) fix. The good news is that commercial customers can deploy a workaround right now, but they will have to reach out to Microsoft Support for Business for additional details.
    • They said by this time everyone will have flying cars. WELL...
    • A study by physicist Henry Tye of Cornell University suggests that the universe may not expand forever. Instead, it could eventually stop expanding, begin contracting and end in a "Big Crunch" roughly 20 billion years from now. Maybe not as we now know that time can flow backwards.
    • Of course. Simply reverse the polarity.
    • It is clear from this aricle that "Time Is On My Side" no matter which direction it is flowing., https://noai.duckduckgo.com/?i...m%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DsEj8lUx0gwY
