Really like the idea of them doing a semi-reboot of the series. The first episode was a great setup for a new chapter.

 

I would actually LOVE to see this happen in a few other shows I watch. Do something bold and crazy like this. I know it is easier with an animated series, but still, it is doable in live action though.

According to the article the ratings have consistently gone up and hopefully this new turn will help that.

It will be weird and I'll miss ISIS but we had 4 great years with ISIS. At least this new turn will stop it from getting boring! Same writer and actors so I'm sure it will still be hilarious!

Honestly by season 4, the whole spy thing was getting kind of boring to me and the show was riding on its many hilarious one-liners. This season looks fantastic, so I'm glad they did the reboot.

It's not really a reboot, everything in the past seasons still happened. They're just taking it in a radical new direction, much like the Heart of Archness storyline.

 

Loved the episode and I'm sure I'll love the season. Archer is a pretty great show.

Was the end bit a preview of the rest of the season or a daydream by Archer imagining what could happen?

It was a preview. If you look up some of the interviews before the premiere they talk about the reboot, but what you saw is the new Archer. ISIS is done for good and his daydream is the new story arc.

On how the hell you go about making a country album for a character in an animated sitcom?

It?s a real country album. A friend of ours, there?s a guy here in Atlanta named Kevn Kenny who has been around music forever. He?s awesome. He used to be in a band called Drivin? and Cryin?.

Kevn basically has made this album for us. I don?t know what it?s going to be called but right now it?s just called ?Cherlene Sings? or ?Cheryl Sings? or something like that. But it?s 12 country songs.

On whether Judy Greer does the singing as Cherlene?

No we hired somebody who sounds like Judy. Judy?s f*cking thrilled with it. She?s loving listening to this girl ?cause she wants to be able to sing. Judy is not a great singer. So she loves that she gets to pretend that she?s a great singer.
