For those posting about the console versions, that's like posting 'I don't have any pie' in a topic about pies.

This is the Computer Gaming section.

Edit: Ninja'd

I prefer to get a actual DVD of a game then just download it, in case I want to install it again without having to download it.

i'd rather use Steam's backup utility and keep a copy of the game on my usb hdd or on a flash card, rather than buy a dvd copy of the game

I wonder if you can enter your retail code into Steam, like a lot of other games?

There aren't really that many retail keys that you can add to Steam.

Hmm, now that I look, there does seem to be a few more since last time I checked.

I wonder if you can enter your retail code into Steam, like a lot of other games?

That's what I was wondering too

edit:

Retail CD-Keys for this game cannot be registered through Steam. If you wish to create a shortcut to this game in the My Games tab

now through EA if your physical media gets destroyed you can enter your cd key and downloaded it w/o having to buy a new copy...now i just wish i knew where i put my manual for MOH-Airborne

really? since when has EA been doing that?

Yep CrossCheck is definitely correct with the EA digital downloads. In fact that is how I installed Battlefield 2, as my disk I had was so used and scratched it no longer worked. When I contacted EA Support they wound up gaving me a new serial and "purchased" a copy of BF2 for me through the service. The support guy had actually mentioned they were doing it for all their releases for awhile now (meaning the digital downloads, I did need to plea a little to get my replacement copy LOL).

As he said just download the EA Download Manager. It is very similar to Steam, just way more bare bones and not as flushed out.

And oh BOT, I purchased it through Steam. I actually would have loved to purchase a physical copy, cause then you can just do the digital one, but I was antsy and wanted in on the Beta and Steam was the quickest, easiest way to do it.

Digital Download (Steam) FTW! Who wants those stupid boxes laying around and what happens if you lose it? You have to re-buy the game :pinch: .

The only time I would buy a DVD disc copy is if it the game came with a poster, music, art book, ect ect... But those mostly only come out for the Xbox and PS3 which sucks because I really wanted that cool record, CD, Poster and art guide that came with Bioshock 2!

Steam. With a 50Mb connection I can download the entire game in an hour or two and its nice being able to just have all my games automatically update and accessible from the one place. Steam friends integration is nice too.

Same here. Just a note, BF:BC2 uses the EA friends list so you won't be able to join a game through Stream friends. I think that's limited to Valve's multiplayer games.

    • Why would any self-respecting intelligent person follow any recommendation by Donald's GOP administration? With almost two years of fabrications, deceit, and blatantly illegal behavior, why believe them now? They had best be gone after the November 2026 election, so we'll wait and see.
    • AltSendme 0.4.1 by Razvan Serea AltSendme is a minimal, cross-platform application designed for fast, secure, and private peer-to-peer file transfers. It allows users to send files or entire directories directly between devices without relying on cloud servers, accounts, or any personal information. Everything is encrypted end-to-end using modern protocols like QUIC and TLS 1.3, ensuring both strong security and low-latency performance. Transfers are verified with BLAKE3 for data integrity, and interrupted downloads automatically resume, making the experience reliable even on unstable connections. You can transfer anything—images, videos, documents, and more. Integrity checks are performed on both ends, so your files are automatically verified for correctness during both sending and receiving. AltSendme works seamlessly across local networks or long-distance links, capable of saturating multi-gigabit connections for extremely fast delivery. With built-in NAT traversal and encrypted relay fallback, it connects devices almost anywhere. The app integrates with the Sendme CLI and will soon support mobile and web platforms. Fully free and open-source, AltSendme offers a lightweight, privacy-first alternative to traditional cloud-based services, removing size limits, upload costs, and unnecessary data exposure. AltSendme 0.4.1 changelog: Release Highlights Self-hosted relays: Run your own iroh relay so transfers don't rely on public infrastructure. Includes a full deployment template in deploy/relay/ with Docker Compose for a VPS and configuration examples for production use. Fly.io support: One-click deploy template for Fly.io, including a quick-start config (fly.dev.toml) for testing without a custom domain, plus production setup with Let's Encrypt and your own hostname. Relay settings UI: New Settings → Network panel to choose how AltSendme connects: automatic public relays, custom self-hosted URLs (with optional auth token), or disabled. Test connections, verify latency, and see live relay status in the footer. Disable relays: Turn off relay servers entirely when you only need same-network transfers (e.g. LAN). Direct connections only. No relay hop required when devices can reach each other. Android graduates from beta: Android is now part of the regular release cycle alongside desktop. APKs ship with each version (universal, arm64, and armv7). • You are mostly right about the ephemeral nature of it. As I mention in the article, if you dont add a second device or take a backup of your account before uninstalling it, then yes you will lose access to your account. That said, in terms of actual user experience when you sync multiple devices your message history carries across and there's also a Saved Messages chat like there is on Telegram to send messages and attachments between your installs. But yh, what you point out are correct and its not trying to emulate Messenger or Telegram.
    • OK so SearXNG is a meta search engine that you can install locally or use via a public instance. It scrapes other search engines which you choose and then sorts the results. Not as complicated as multiple relays
