Portal

I couldn't find an official Portal thread so I thought I would create a new one.

I just noticed a strange new update to Portal on Steam.

Portal

-Changed radio transmission frequency to comply with federal and state spectrum management regulations

along with this is a new Achievement

Transmission Received

...?

Valve said there wouldn't be any new Half-Life in 2010, but I don't think they mentioned anything about Portal 2. Could this new update be some kind of hint at Portal 2?

I've got to admit, Valve are good at causing a stir over their unreleased games. I guess it keeps people excited, even though nothing they do here will truly reveal anything concise about the game until Valve announce it.

Ah well, something to waste time over I guess.

Portal 2 announced next week at GDC?

The consensus at this point is that the cryptic images and messages that have surfaced by way of Valve’s brilliantly intricate AGR (augmented reality) Easter egg hunt involving their beloved puzzler Portal point to an official announcement of Portal 2, or even perhaps the long awaited reveal of Half-Life 2: Episode 3 in the near future. Well, that announcement could be coming sooner than we previously thought.

Exhibit the first (and only): one of the pieces of creepy teaser artwork discovered by highly skilled Valve community fiends mentions that GLaDOS, the cake-teasing computer from Portal, has now been upgraded to version 3.11. Interestingly, Valve head Gabe Newell is scheduled to receive the 2010 Game Developers Choice Pioneer Award during GDC next week in San Francisco on...get ready for this...March 11 [3.11?].

Coincidence? Blatant indication that announcements are afoot? Just another reason to pose rhetorical questions? Anything’s possible.

What I do know for sure though is that G4 will have ground troops all over GDC getting the skinny on everything the event has to offer. Like you’d expect anything less.

This would make sense. I think we should expect something official about Steam on OSX.

What I said about Ep 3 was because of the fact that people have found references somewhere to both Barney and Kliener.

Interesting...

Also in expansion to that, this is 'Dinosaur Fizzle' on a spectrometer. Looking familiar?

    • Onwards to Windows 12 then lol.
    • There is a long thread (128pgs and counting) that I've been following over at ElevenForums that has a method for updating Secure Boot even if there is no BIOS upgrade. I've used this method and had zero issues. NOTE:  I do not take any responsibility if this or any other Secure Boot method bricks your system -- YMMV!  Read carefully before using!
    • Yes, yes, YES, thank you AMD. Now display audio, night light, cleartype, etc, all work again.
