For a long time i've been manually creating torrents, encrypting them, and sending them out to two specific people to share files (legal of course)

now, i want to change that: i want to find a way to set up a dedicated box where i am, and two more at the other two locations. i need them to 'sync' with each other. ie: i drop a file on the share, and the other two boxes pick up and sync that file, same on all three ends.

think Dropbox minus the cloud storage.

Requirements:

MUST run on Windows (WinXP Pro x86) (support reasons, as the three boxes are in three states)

MUST encrypt the connection

Must be able to run on a headless server.

what's the best solution for this?

I would do it with rsync, which normally is done over a ssh connection.. Easier to setup ssh server on linux, your headless box could be linux I would assume.

There are lots of ssh clients for windows, not so many servers setups.

Then grab the windows binary for rsync http://www.itefix.no/i2/node/10650 for your two client machines, and a ssh client - putty would work just fine.

Or for that matter you could just setup a network with hamachi for all three of your machines, then use rsync directly since your connection would all be secure over the hamachi vpn.

There are lots of sync tools out there - I would think any of them would work, just connect your 3 machines together securely with hamachi

Well not so much that they do. But sure there are windows binaries of it, well actually they run with cygwin, etc.. Same place to get windows rsysnc has ssh version for windows

    • Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) 18.1.2.3 by Razvan Serea Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) is a utility for completely removing AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL graphics drivers and related packages from your system, attempting to eliminate all leftovers (including registry entries, folders and files, driver store). Though AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL drivers can usually be removed via the Windows Control Panel, this uninstaller tool was created for situations where standard uninstall fails, or when you need to fully remove NVIDIA or ATI graphics card drivers. After using this driver cleaner, your system will behave as though it’s the first time you’re installing a new driver—similar to a fresh Windows installation. As with all such tools, we recommend creating a restore point beforehand, allowing you to undo changes if issues arise. If you're having trouble installing an older or newer driver, try it—there are reports that it resolves such problems. Recommended usage: The tool can be used in Normal mode but for absolute stability when using DDU, Safemode is always the best. Make a backup or a system restore (but it should normally be pretty safe). It is best to exclude the DDU folder completely from any security software to avoid issues. You do NOT need to uninstall the driver prior using DDU. Requirements: .NET Framework 4.8 Compatible with Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and 11 (32-bit or 64-bit) Note: Using on Insider Preview builds is at your own risk. Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) 18.1.2.3 changelog: All GPUs: Fixed hardware rescan issue when cleaning all GPUs without restarting or shutting down UI: Added Guru3D mention in the About section. General: Various fixes and enhancements. • That would be nice, if excel could refresh pivot tables without bugs. Frequently you refresh a pivot and all parameters get lost. Now this will happen automatically. Bravo MS!
