I read the books before (well I'm ~20% into the 3rd one atm) and I like the series, in the beginning it felt like I knew everything what was going to happen, but this show was just starting slow, now, with all the action nothing feels spoiled.

I came in here intending to ask a question about the series having read the books before and it looks like it got answered before I came in. I've been tossing up if I should watch the series or not for a while and after the train wreck of The Seeker, I really didnt want to go through that again. Does it hold true to a lot of the novel inferniac?

Almost 99% :) But it isn't really surprising considering that George R. R. Martin is working closely with them. On a rare occasion when they change something it's mostly because there's no time to show it the way it was pictured in the book.

I can also attest to this (Y)

Here's the press release from HBO announcing a start date for filming on Season Two.

"Production for season two of the hit HBO series Game of Thrones is set to begin Monday, July 25. Once again, production for the series will be based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The series will shoot at the Paint Hall Studio in Belfast, as well as various locations in Northern Ireland. Additional locations will be announced as they are confirmed. The production continues to receive funding from Northern Ireland Screen.

Based on the best-selling fantasy book series by George R.R. Martin, the ten-episode first season of GAME OF THRONES launched April 17, exclusively on HBO, with the finale scheduled to debut Sunday, June 19.

Casting, writers and directors for season two will be announced as soon as they are confirmed."

Oh shi.................... i just blasted through this show in two days its my new favourite thing in the whole world.

Sean Bean needs to get a new agent, every show/film hes in he never lasts till the end and nearly always dies.

see I wasn't just making it up everyone :p

Reading the book before was worth it, in my opinion. There are things in the TV series that happen but aren't fully explained (due to time). I'm half way through the 2nd book and the 5th book is supposed to come out in July sometime. Thing about Martin is there are sooooo many characters! I know a few people who are worried he might kick the bucket before finishing the story - from what I understand he's not the healthiest man in the world.

My favorite scene from last week's episode:

Tyrion getting knocked out before the battle and Bronn saying "You're a horrible fighter" [sic]. Hilarious!

Yeah, but would it be better to read it after, you think?

Because then you get to learn more about the story, find out new stuff about the world, etc; instead of the other way around, where you read first, then finding out things have been left out because there wasn't enough time.

I've got the 4 books here just waiting. I'm going to start with the first, as soon as we get through the finale this week. I guess I'll decide after that, if I want to continue with the 2nd or wait out for season 2..

You will notice how in the book it didn't go down like that. He kills numerous people in that battle and sustains an injury to the arm when he gets hit by a morning star and knocked off his horse. In fact thus far Tyrion's strength and fighting prowess has been under represented, in the book he fights with an axe and splits many a head but I guess they decided to focus purely on his wit and ridicule his fighting ability.

(Y) good ending...I am only in this for the

dragons

and white walkers :p

Be honest Rappy, you're in it for Emilia Clarke and the

######

too :p

Awesome end though. White walkers, winter coming, and

dragons making their comeback

. Looks like a nice Ice vs Fire situation brewing.

    • I know I won't ever be using it to make my game. I'd rather pay humans.
    • Nah. For every indie dev that needs to create code for "stuff" or textures, it's a godsend enabler to possibly tackle a project that you may not otherwise. The end result and testing will tell the truth if everything works or doesn't, or a game is just mediocre slop, but now these tools are now there and it's the developer's duty to judge the outcome, and even more so for pro studios. And you gotta remember that they will be at an early stage.
    • whoosh my comment went over your head. Enjoy your notchless 3:2 OLED device
    • As a game dev, today was really depressing. They announced that Blueprints will be deprecated in UE6 to be fully replaced by their sh**ty Python-like Verse language... They also announced that 5.8 will be the last version of UE5 until UE6 comes out in MID 2029!!!! They have completely lost the plot.
