God this season has sucked thus far! No action of memory, and the sand sharks are just awful. I really don't want to watch another episode of Arya washing floors, Sansa being sad, Theon being a bitch, etc. The shows only redeeming quality is that Tyrion is in it, but even his character this season is massively underused.

Agree, I'm starting to wonder if the budget is going to all the actors, have they all started demanding more money knowing they are safe main characters?

So I remember reading an interview with Iwan Rheon (Ramsey) before this season started. He said that there was a scene in the middle of this season that he initially refused to do when he read the script, because Ramsey did something so awful that he didn't want to be filmed doing it... Was he talking about the sex scene at the end of the last episode? Because, if he was I don't know what he was complaining about. It was tame by Game of Thrones standards. In fact, it wasn't even tame, it was down-right boring. It didn't come anywhere close to the horrible things that have happened on this show.

I went into this season, after reading that interview, mentally preparing for something worse than the red wedding; like some type of torture/mutilation/humiliation and that was it? Lame.

I don't get the comments about this season, I seriously don't. Are your standards really that insanely high? Do you want shocking deaths for the sake of shocking deaths? I don't even get complaining that not much happens, we've had awesome scenes on the Wall (Jon and Stannis owned so far), awesome scenes in King's Landing, Tyrion's journey is actually interesting compared to the books, and his interactions with Jorah have been the Hound + Arya of this season, and I for one actually care about Sansa this season (in the last two books, she has literally two chapters of doing nothing in the Eerie). Brienne also has a purpose. The only thing that's been subpar is Dorne, because the Sand Snakes characters do come across a bit cheesy and one dimensional, but as with everything, there's bound to be a payoff. Daenerys is kind of in a stand still no matter how you look at it, she's been boring since season 3 imo, and Arya's storyline is by the nature of things a slow-burn, but awesome nonetheless.

Are you getting into season 5 after binge watching the previous four seasons? If so, I can understand the comments, because it would feel slow waiting on a week to week basis no matter what. But as someone's who's been watching it since season 1, I don't feel there's been any drop in pacing or quality. If anything, I think the show is doing a marvelous job with very bloated and slow-paced source material.

a lot of people raised hell over this scene on internet, and websites that promoted the show refused to do so anymore.

people take rape very seriously, and don't think it was needed to move the the plot

i found it boring too, and much less shocking then some other episodes, but for some it was the worst episode ever.

neither do i.  i think it is on par to what i expected, and while there are lots of slow moments, i am pretty sure they were there in previous seasons.

Worse than when Jamie took Cersei to town over their inbred sons casket?

Worse than when Jamie took Cersei to town over their inbred sons casket?

as i said, i totally don't think so,   but *apparently* a lot of people think it is worse.

(maybe because she was a virgin, who's first sex was rape... buggered if I know)

Is it bad that I've never seen an episode of this show?

nah.. it is OK.

now, go back to your cave!  :p

The way the actors played it off.. I got the vibe that Theon had totally tapped that back in the day.

I don't have HBO and I can only rent the boxed set for a few days at a time. Sure there are "other" alternatives but I prefer to wait until it is available on netflix or whatever. I'm just now starting to watch Dexter so I have my binge fix.

If you're referring to my post above yours, I never said I didn't like this season. In fact, I am enjoying this season as much as the previous ones. I don't mind the amount of exposition and character development in this season. And I agree that Tyrion + Jorah are great to watch.

I was simply stating my disappointment in the underwhelming "this scene is so bad I don't want to film it" hype. Rape or not (the correct answer is: not) it was tame in comparison to the rest of the shocking scenes in this show. (which includes a true rape scene!)

I don't expect the series to continually try to one-up itself in terms of shocking deaths. Its not feasible, and it would jump the shark very quickly. However, when an actor on said show says there is a scene is so bad he doesn't want to film it...on a show full of scenes like the Red Wedding, the Purple Wedding, Oberyn's death, and many others...that does imply certain expectations.

this is what the actress that played Sansa has to say:

And then there is the scene described in the production breakdown as "romance dies." Sansa's wedding night in episode 6.

When I read that scene, I kinda loved it. I love the way Ramsay had Theon watching.

It was all so messed up. It's also so daunting for me to do it.

I've been making [producer Bryan Cogman] feel so bad for writing that scene: 'I can't believe you're doing this to me! "But I secretly loved it."

naughty girl ;)

Nah, was more referring to 'omg nothing happens this show sucks' people. I'm trying to understand that mindset, but I keep failing to.

As for the Sansa scene, it was done as tastefully as it could have been done. I don't understand people bitching about it. Sansa knew what she was getting into. And as for your argument about it, I don't know, it was still shocking to me. You kind of hope, time after time, that at least some characters are protected from at least some of the horrors of the world they're set it, and time after time, Game of Thrones shows you you're wrong.

I was scared they'd go the book route, because what happens there is truly more awful than what Theon got, in a way, and I also read their interviews, they played it up a lot more. But who knows, maybe episode 7 still counts as mid-season? Maybe there's more in store? Although I truly hope not. Watching a season of Theon's torture porn was enough. Sansa's also been through enough. I'm interested to see how she deals with the consequences of it, but I don't wanna see any more of it.

If nothing happens in episode 7 can you explain what happens in the book in a spoiler-tag here? (or PM me) Some of my co-workers who have read the books mentioned something similar, but they refuse to give details. I want to know!  :pinch:

This is no less than the 4th rape the show has had, so thats a BS argument.

While I agree that the scene didn't need to exist (as Sansa has yet to leave the Vale in the books), those saying that they won't watch because of the rape scene are ridiculous.

This isn't really spoilers since the show has dropped this entire plotline:

Jeyne Poole (Sansa's friend) goes back to Winterfell and marries Ramsay as a fake Arya. He treats her very badly. And Reek/Theon has a much more ... shall we say ... active role in their wedding night.

I would say the rest of the story will mimic the book story, so thats all I'll say.

If nothing happens in episode 7 can you explain what happens in the book in a spoiler-tag here? (or PM me) Some of my co-workers who have read the books mentioned something similar, but they refuse to give details. I want to know!  :pinch:

As episode said, it's a different character that's married off to Ramsay, Jeyne Poole.

Ramsay forces Reek to "warm her up" on their wedding night. Since books never explicitly show Theon getting castrated, it's one of the scenes that imply it, as Reek acts confused and asks how he should do it, since he "can't," to which Ramsay replies he should use his mouth.

In a manner similar to referencing to Theon's castration, it is also heavily implied he forced her to have sex with his dogs :x  That was the thing I was dreading, especially since they showed Sansa in the kennels.

    • Good review, and yeah the benchmark breakdown is pretty clear but also a little messy in a good way. It’s kinda interesting to see where the RX 9070 GRE slides in between the 7800 XT and the 9070 XT , especially when it comes to AI tasks and Blender style workloads. The side by side with Nvidia’s RTX 5070 and 4070 makes it feel obvious just how competitive the mid range GPU scene has gotten lately, and that’s great for creators and gamers too since you can pick based on your priorities rather than only chasing one single thing.
    • That's it. I finally uninstalled Firefox because they often keep pushing buggy updates, only to test them later and make users suffer. No longer is it my alternative browser to Edge. What a waste of energy. Firefox is bad for the environment, just like Chrome (wasting RAM/energy).
