UPDATE: 10th Mar, 2010. Taskbar Thumbnail Customizer has been updated to v1.1. This update fixes the default values of the X Spacing & Y Spacing.

Windows 7 Taskbar Thumbnail Customizer is a free tiny portable tool for Windows 7 that allows users to resize & tweak their Windows 7 taskbar thumbnails left & right, in & out!

Windows 7 Taskbar Thumbnail Customizer will allow you to customize Windows 7 taskbar thumbnail previews in detail. You can change the size of the thumbnail, its spacing, top, bottom, left, right margins and mouse delay time too!

Find the spacing or margin not to your liking? Go ahead and change them! Or maybe you want to customize the mouse delay time too! You can do that too.

Once you have made your choices, click on Apply Changes. The Windows Explorer will restart to apply the changes.

Messed up ? You can always click on the Restore Defaults button to reset all settings to Windows 7 default values.

You don't need a program to do this...

1. Open the Registry Editor by going to Start, and type regedit.exe in the Start Search field followed by the Enter key.

2. Provide consent or the appropriate credentials to User Account Control if prompted.

3. Navigate to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Taskband.

4. Create a new DWORD (32-bit) entry named MaxThumbSizePx.

5. Change the value of the new entry to your desired setting - e.g. 500. Make sure you select "Decimal" when entering this value.

Then, restart Windows Explorer by clicking on Start, hold down Ctrl-Shift and right click on the Start menu, and then click on Exit Explorer. Then press CTRL-SHIFT-Esc to open Task Manager and run explorer.exe. Alternatively, you can log off and log back in which will do the trick.

While one can always do so by editing the registry, this program lets you do so in a click. It has many options.

You can always reset to defaults the changes, if you dont like them.
