gotta try the new ATI drivers...

went to town yesterday :)

BFBC2Game.exe%202%20.jpg

edit: here is the link to the 10.4 beta drivers.

THESE ARE BETA REMEMBER!!!!

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IV35HNQJ

the only real change about these drivers is fixing loading issues in battlefield. I haven't ran them yet (downloading/installing now) so i will post an update when i play around with them.

ATI Catalyst™ 10.4 Preview features:

The ATI Catalyst 10.4 Preview provides resolution for the following issue:

Long load times for new maps in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 when using an ATI Radeon HD 5xxx series graphics card

http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/ATI-Catalyst-10-4-Hotfix.aspx

there are 10.5 drivers too (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WH2U3WZG ) but apparently they are just 10.4 with an older version of CCC (who cares though? ATI tray tools FTW!!!) and don't perform as well from what i am reading ( http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=248947 & http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=319297)

edit: don't think the 10.4b support windows xp :(

Here is the R10 Server changelist

  • Punkbuster is required ON for ranked servers
  • Ranked servers cannot be started with a password
  • Autobalance message goes to text-chat instead of in the middle of the screen
  • Added weapon balance tweaks to a number of weapons ? we are eagerly awaiting feedback!

We aren't going to tell you what weapon balance tweaks we have done, we want your unbiased views on the changes before we detail what has changed.

HOLY ****. That list proves right now that DICE is listening to the community and is doing exactly what I expected them to do (Y)!

I love this guys, a few too point out, LOADOUT SAVES!, WEAPON BALANCING(i know they will some how fix the m60, gut feeling, and because 85% of the whole BC2 community hates it. Also shotgun sniping, BS. Tried it yesterday, worked like a charm, not a good thing....), NEW BROWSER. God the list goes on haha.

I love following there blog :).

Here's Bazajaytee's response about the weapon changes:

Thats the point of not telling you, so you dont go looking for the changes instead you feel what the changes are.

We'll tell you later what the changes were.

For example, once in BF2 we put in our changelist we had tweaked an assault rifle. The feedback ranged from "Horrible changes it is ruined" to "OMG this is so much better" and in the end we didn't actually change a thing with the gun. So telling you what is changes doesnt get an unbiased review of whether you think the changes are for the better or not.

So there are weapon balances included in the patch I guess. Still, disappointing, I would rather know than not know.

Edit: It is an impressive list of changes and fixes though. One thing though is the kit selection not saving never really bothered me. It did at first but I got used to it because it takes like 2 seconds to select your kit. Also disappointed with the start timer on conquest/rush. In rush mode a lot of the harder/nearly impossible mcoms are in the first sections of the map. As an attacker if you load quickly and get there before the rambo medics and cg'ers get in to defend you might actually stand a chance at progressing. I'm probably the only one that has that view on it though.

b_560x95.png

If anyone wants a vent server to play on, there's generally at least three of us playing BC2. For the password just PM me. @trag3dy @rajputwarrior @Anaron password changed from the old one due to people complaining that it was to 'hard'.

# MP ? Kit/gadget loadout saved between sessions
Should be awesome (Y)
@Singh400: sounds awesome! Thanks for the information
No worries :)

Rumour has it, that they aren't actually nerfing the M60, but giving every other weapon a buff... Watch this space I guess...

Depending on how this actually works, I have different kits for different scenarios. It would be easy to pick out what to roll with, with it all pre-configured.

One thing missing for me, is auto-login into the MP interface, and a built-in screenshots faciltiy (even though I use FRAPS).

@Singh: nothing about nerf. Somehow they will fix it. Rather it be countering the guns power or reducing it.

As far as auto login I like that it doesn't. In case I have to select a soldier(gfs on my account, since my

computer is the only one she can play it on).

As far as screenshot/video goes

I'm glad we can use fraps. Some games it conflicts and gets you booted like cod4 and bf2. Cod didn't kick me as much as bf2 did saying "disallowed program/driver".

So in glad we can use fraps.

The only thing I personally do not like...

MP ? Added 15 second spawn timer for Conquest/Rush gamemodes at the start of round to prevent high end machines getting the upper hand before other machines load in.

That sucks, as I was almost always one of the first in and able to grab my tanks almost every time.

Also since I am a tank ######, really digging this one...

MP ? Reduced the brightness in Russian vehicles

pm the new password.

I always wondered why there wasn't an auto login feature. It should let you decide if you want that though.

360 version seems to have buggered up- I was in a group with mates in a squad, I had Squad Rush, Valpariso and hardcore mode on. We started a match and it put us in Rush, Port Valdez, core. We did it again and it put us in Conquest...and it randomly doesn't let people join our squad, saying that the game connection has been lost, then it can't find any matches. It's fecking annoying.

So DLC Dr. Pepper dropping tommorow. UK and others can purchase the kits for 440MS (all of 'em) or 160MS seperate.

Those in the USA can use codes that have been on Dr. Pepper cans. However I haven't found any of these. Not one Dr. Pepper Bottle/Can with codes on it. So I'm asking if anyone has seen them and what stores so I can check my local market?

The DLC adds new skins for the last unlock in each class (weapon) as well as a 4 achievements and 12 awards/insignia's.

PS3/PC will get them later.

They dont go that far south as SC, but my local Wawa (like a 7-11) here in NJ was packed with Dr Pepper bottles with codes. I picked up 2 bottles (still cheaper than the 440MS points if that was available here) and wasnt able to redeem them for BFBC2 DLC. You could only choose Spore, Mass Effect 2, BF: Heroes and Sims 3 downloads/add-ons. I'm hopin BC2 shows up tomorrow when it's actually released.

A buddy of mine found them in his local Walgreens. Have you checked everywhere that sells soda? Sometimes they pop up in the weirdest places

Good luck though (Y)

    • The quantum search for Time's origin had an equally mind-boggling conclusion by Sayan Sen Image by Steve Johnson via Pexels A theoretical study from researchers at the University of Surrey suggested that the direction of time may not be fundamentally fixed in certain quantum systems. The work, published in Scientific Reports, examined how the “arrow of time” could emerge from microscopic physics and found that time-reversal symmetry can remain intact even in models used to describe processes such as energy loss and thermalisation. The arrow of time refers to the observed one-way direction from past to future in everyday life. In macroscopic processes, this is easy to see. Spilled milk spreads across a table and does not gather back into a glass, and heat flows from hotter objects to colder ones. These processes shape the common sense idea that time moves in a single direction. However, at the level of fundamental physics, many equations do not prefer a direction of time. Time-reversal symmetry means that the same physical laws can describe a system whether time moves forward or backward. This has made it difficult to explain why irreversible behaviour appears in the large-scale world even when the underlying rules do not require it. Dr Andrea Rocco, Associate Professor in Physics and Mathematical Biology at the University of Surrey, described this contrast: "One way to explain this is when you look at a process like spilt milk spreading across a table, it's clear that time is moving forward. But if you were to play that in reverse, like a movie, you'd immediately know something was wrong – it would be hard to believe milk could just gather back into a glass. However, there are processes, such as the motion of a pendulum, that look just as believable in reverse. The puzzle is that, at the most fundamental level, the laws of physics resemble the pendulum; they do not account for irreversible processes. Our findings suggest that while our common experience tells us that time only moves one way, we are just unaware that the opposite direction would have been equally possible." The study focused on open quantum systems, which are quantum systems that interact with a surrounding environment. This environment, often described as a heat bath, can exchange energy and information with the system. The researchers used this framework to study how a direction of time might appear even when the underlying physics does not enforce one. A key part of the analysis involved the Markov approximation. This is a simplification used in many models where the system is assumed not to retain memory of its past states. The idea is that changes depend only on the current state, not on earlier history. This is commonly used when studying thermalisation, which is the process where a system settles into equilibrium with its environment. The study also used concepts such as master equations, including the Lindblad and Pauli equations, which describe how probabilities of different quantum states change over time. Another related model discussed was quantum Brownian motion, which describes the random-like movement of a quantum particle interacting continuously with its environment. In these descriptions, a “memory kernel” can appear, which is a mathematical term that accounts for how past states influence current behaviour. The researchers found that applying the Markov approximation did not break time-reversal symmetry. Even when the system interacted with an effectively infinite heat bath, the resulting equations of motion remained symmetric in time. This meant that the same mathematical description could, in principle, run forward or backward in time without contradiction. The study further showed that standard frameworks used in open quantum systems, including quantum Brownian motion and master equations like the Lindblad and Pauli forms, could be written in a time-symmetric way. These equations are typically used to describe processes that look irreversible, such as dissipation and thermalisation, but the results suggested they can also be interpreted as allowing evolution in both time directions. Thomas Guff, Research Fellow in Quantum Thermodynamics, said: "The surprising part of this project was that even after making the standard simplifying assumption to our equations describing open quantum systems, the equations still behaved the same way whether the system was moving forwards or backwards in time. When we carefully worked through the maths, we found that this behaviour had to be the case because a key part of the equation, the "memory kernel," is symmetrical in time. We also found a small but important detail which is usually overlooked – a time discontinuous factor emerged that kept the time-symmetry property intact. It’s unusual to see such a mathematical mechanism in a physics equation because it's not continuous, and it was very surprising to see it appear so naturally." The researchers also noted that deriving a one-way arrow of time from time-reversal symmetric microscopic dynamics remains an open problem across fields such as thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, particle physics, and cosmology. Their results suggested that some standard descriptions of irreversible behaviour in open quantum systems may be better understood using a time-symmetric formulation of Markovianity. According to the study, processes such as thermalisation, which are usually treated as irreversible, could in theory be described in a way that allows evolution in either time direction under the same rules. This does not imply that time reversal occurs in everyday life, but rather that the underlying equations do not strictly enforce a single direction. Overall, the findings suggested that the perceived direction of time may emerge from how physical systems are modelled and approximated, rather than from a fundamental asymmetry in the laws themselves. The researchers noted that this perspective could have implications for ongoing work in quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, and cosmology on the origin of time’s arrow.
