They dont go that far south as SC, but my local Wawa (like a 7-11) here in NJ was packed with Dr Pepper bottles with codes. I picked up 2 bottles (still cheaper than the 440MS points if that was available here) and wasnt able to redeem them for BFBC2 DLC. You could only choose Spore, Mass Effect 2, BF: Heroes and Sims 3 downloads/add-ons. I'm hopin BC2 shows up tomorrow when it's actually released.

A buddy of mine found them in his local Walgreens. Have you checked everywhere that sells soda? Sometimes they pop up in the weirdest places

Good luck though (Y)

They should be poppin up tomorrow, at least that was the latest news.

I've checked Wal-Mart and one gas station on the way home from work. I just happen to live less than 5 minutes away from 6 different gas stations and 2 pharamacy stores. I'll check 'em tommorow and see. Only thing I ever find though is Ironman 2 bottles/cans.

Us PC guys will be forced to buy the dlc skins through the ea store. The Dr. Pepper codes only work for the xbox 360 version as far as I know. That's according to Bazajaytee.

I'm not sure how I feel about that. On the one hand I've gotten more than my monies worth from the game...but on the other hand, they're just reskins, not sure how I feel about paying for that kind of stuff. I guessing adding any sort of variety will be nice.

As said, I wouldn't pay for new skins as well. The way I see it, I paid $3.00 for two bottles of soda with the chance of getting new skins, more pins and achievements/gamer points out of it.

If I don't get the DLC, I got two bottles of soda to drink...even though I'm not that big of a fan of Dr. Pepper.

Will find out tomorrow if I get anything.

Im with anaron. Paying for skins imo is Pointless. Paying for maps and stuff, yeah why not. I mean I am totally against paying for ANY DLC on PC. Especially when a company like Valve is adding more then $20 worth of DLC to L4D2 this thursday. The cost was calculated based on the past DLC we have seen and it being rated @ 10. Examples as Borderlands DLC, MW2 DLC(consoles, **** pc), Bioshock 1/2, Mass Effect 1/2, etc.

I did NOT pay for borderlands DLC even thou i LOVED THE GAME. I believe DLC on PC should be free. I mean if Valve can literally give us a game mode, more maps/levels, more melee weapons, introduce new weapons, bring back OLD characters, etc. I mean that just warrants a BIG ass upgrade for NO COST.

Idc whos gonna argue about L4D2 not being worth its full money, but them adding this is amazing. Just like there TF2 updates? Holy jesus. Ever since the game came out they added over $50 worth of content into it. 1 Update i believe was teh biggest update where they did nothing but scout and soldier or medic. I forgot what it was, but it was the day where TF2 literally took an hour to download for most.

When a company does that and not ask for payment, there a true PC Gaming company imo.

Honestly I just looked up the announcement for this Kit Upgrade DLC, and as of now all they are talking about is the 360 version of the game...

Give your soldier some style with the Kit Upgrade DLC

On Wednesday 21st April Xbox 360 players can change how their soldiers look on the Battlefield with the Kit Upgrade DLC.

There are 4 kits, one for each class, specific unique uniforms and camouflaged weapons gives you a visual edge. I mean what good is a camouflaged soldier if the gun sticks out like a sore thumb?Recruited strictly from other high-level Special Operations units such as Delta Force and Spetsnaz, the Special Activities groups – SPECACT - are the elite of the elite, used mainly for covert operations and other high-risk missions in areas where conventional troops cannot be used.

With the 4 kit specific unique uniforms and the camouflaged SPECACT personal M16A2, UMP-45, MG3 and M95 SNIPER you have a visual edge on the Battlefield, showing that you're a force to be reckoned with. The pack also includes 12 new awards and 4 Achievements.

In North America the kit upgrades are only available on Xbox 360 using the Dr Pepper codes printed on special promotional cans.

In Europe and the UK you can get hold of the kit upgrades for:

Xbox Live Marketplace

160 MS points per kit upgrade

440 MS points for bundle pack (all kits)

The kit upgrades will also be coming to PS3 and PC a little later on, we'll post the exact release dates here as soon as we can.

I bolded out the last sentence, as it says the kit upgrades will be coming to the PS2 and PC a little later on, and honestly and sincerely, I cannot see them charging PC players for this type of DLC as DICE is smart enough to know this is something the modding community generally speaking does in their sleep.

If somehow they do wind up charging for this on the PC, it goes without saying I will not be happy at all about it. With that said, I just cannot see them charging on the PC, I really cannot even fathom them making such a truly daft decision.

They are charging for it. See here.

For you PC guys. We are working to add this content into the PC version of the game as well but the R7 client patch took most of our time. It is coming though.

For those of you wondering... This content will NOT be free on PC.

@Sikh: Ontop of that L4D2 is now only $29.99 on Steam. Granted it's been out a while, but so has MW2 and it's still full price.

OMG, I LOVE DICE. I stopped playing at 2am, and got my update like 10 minutes later. Was busy designing a website or i would of launched BC2 anyway because I was VERY excited / eager to see the new improvement to the server browser. And I have to say, I LIKE, I like A LOT.

"Main" server browser

REGIONS!?!? :)

Favorites and History ACTUALLY WORK. But I accidently hit search and it erased it, then i took SS and my actual favorites poped up, instead of half the servers as "dead" even thou i justed playing in them 5 minutes ago, or yesterday or etc.

Overall, So far i am VERY Happy with DICE. But the true test will be tomorrow, when all servers are R10. Then I will make my final judgement, but so far, DICE hasnt let me down, and never HAS. I think I love DICE / EA more then I love IW/Activison. Well No more IW/Actvision, so hopefully Respawn Entertainment keeps there old IW ways and I will love them once agian. But anyway, GO DICE!

Thanks for the screenshots, Sikh. Can't wait to get home now :D

And I don't plan on paying/buying for that DLC. For what is effectively costumes. No way.

No Problem. I was to excited to focus on what i was doing anyway, and left fraps open so just took screenshots haha. Now I can play with other peoples outside the US without being confused or reading the server name haha.

A few things I noticed in two games I played after the patch:

  1. The M95 with magnum ammo no longer 1 shots UAV's. Apparently I'm not the only one that noticed this. The M95 doesn't even 1 shot people at close range anymore. What's the point of it now?! Sure you can shoot down a helicopter in 10-15 shots but can't kill someone with it at close range?
  2. The AUG mows people down like crazy.
  3. Couldn't really tell any difference in the damage the 40mm grenade launcher does.
  4. Knifing is a lot different. You don't lunge at people from half way across the map anymore. Out of about 10 attempts to knife various people I only got one. Where as before the patch they would have all been successful knife attempts. Even point blank knives don't land if you're not insanely fast.
  5. The server browser is really nice to use now as well. It seemed to respond very quickly.
  6. The hit registration seemed to be really good.
  7. Server auto balance seems to work finally. Although that could have been Guardian or something the server I played on was using.

  1. Well, if you are lazy and aim for the torso, instead of the head. Then no, it shouldn't kill them in one shot. But if you aim for the head, and get a headshot then yes it should be a one shot kill.
  2. Never liked the AUG, will try it tonight.
  3. I have read different, apparently the Carl Gustav and the noon launcher got a massive nerf, no lone one hit kills.
  4. Haven't heard/read anything about knifing - placebo?
  5. Looking forward to it!
  6. Ditto!
  7. Server balance was working fine here (with and without Guardian script installed).

I don't really care about the m95, I just curious why it was nerfed. You never see people saying "O M G killed by an M95 for the 18th time in a row, annoying!". So the nerf is kind of out of the blue. Now someone pointed out that maybe UAV's health got buffed instead, and that may be, but I really doubt it.

As for the Cg and Gl they had their splash damage reduced quite a bit. So you have to pretty much hit someone with it directly. Hitting near them won't do the trick anymore.

Knifing..well..before the patch, you could knife people from crazy distances, I was literally face to face with some people and their weapon killed me before the knife did. I really don't think it was placebo effect so I may be wrong. But I really hope I'm not. Go to youtube and watch videos of BC2 knifing if you don't know how bad it is/was.

Tbf, the AUG was already pretty awesome :ninja:

It could have just been that the r10 servers have better hit registration. So I wasn't used to it actually hitting people very often compared to before. So I don't know, sooner or later someone will hack the code and get some new stats on the weapons and we'll see what all has been changed.

Oh yeah, the tracer dart now fires super fast and doesn't have a red trail behind it, as well. The M1911 had it's fire rate reduced. Some say it's now useless but I thought it was just fine, killed someone with it easily enough.

Well, I don't agree with the fact that the M95 could one hit kill you, where ever you was hit.

Yup, loving that nerf.

I know how bad it is. But like I said, I haven't heard/read anything about knife changes. Laggy server maybe?

Well the M95 could only 1 hit kill within 50yards or so. Anything beyond that was 2 shots. As for the second part, nope, the server wasn't laggy at all. It was all the same server where I was using the AUG to great affect. It seemed to have better hit registration so I don't think so. There is a thread on the UK forum where other people are complaining about how the knife isn't 1 hit killing a lot of people, sometimes taking 2-3 hits.

All sniper rifles use to kill point blank. It was implemented just before the beta. I guess they reversed the changes.

As I said above, the M95 had the farthest 1 hit kill range, but now apparently it's been nerfed along with it's damage which makes it pretty useless now if true. The m24 and the Gol's 1 hit kill range was around 30 yards I think.

Oh yes, one more thing I remember that might or might not be a hit registration fix is that when I ran over someone in a humvee, they actually died. So many times before I'd hit someone and it would just push them along.

So far these changes are official from someone going through the game files:

M60 Damage decreased by one bullet's worth from its 25-20. (20 - 16.7)

1911 has had its maximum Rate of Fire decreased to 260 RPM... and an unusual damage change (it basically doesn't change anything though). I'll get to that later.

M1 Garand has gotten a tiny damage increase. Long range damage increased to 28 and range increased to 64.

Okay, there's quite a lot of little changes. Expect a full update by tonight.

    • Friday Windows 11 preview builds are here. Insiders in the Experimental (formerly Dev) and Beta Channel can download builds 26300.8697 and 26220.8690. My Windows11 device on the Preview Channel just got 26220.8728. My guess is this build is a nightly update from 26220.8690.
    • Traffic has a surprisingly unexpected impact on your surroundings by Sayan Sen Image by Radik 2707 via Pexels A collaborative study by researchers from several Israeli institutions found that everyday pollution from traffic and industrial activity measurably changed the atmospheric electric field over the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, providing new evidence of how human activity can influence the lower atmosphere. The research was led by Dr. Roy Yaniv of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Gertner Institute at Sheba Medical Center, Dr. Assaf Hochman of the Fredy & Nadine Herrmann Institute of Earth Sciences at the Hebrew University, and Prof. Yoav Yair of Reichman University. The study also involved Itay Froomer, a student from Hadera High School and the Israeli Museum of Medicine and Science (Technoda), who carried out the work as part of the Ministry of Education's 5-unit physics research track. The researchers focused on the atmospheric electric field under fair-weather conditions. Even in the absence of storms, a weak electric field naturally exists between Earth's surface and the atmosphere. One of the main ways scientists measure this field is through the Potential Gradient (PG), which is the inverse of the vertical component of the electric field. PG is a key part of the global electric circuit, a planet-wide system of electrical currents maintained by thunderstorms and electrified clouds around the world. Scientists have long known that the atmospheric electric field can be influenced by factors ranging from large-scale atmospheric processes to local weather conditions such as dust, fog and clouds. Human-made pollution is also known to play a role, but understanding exactly how urban emissions affect the electric field close to the ground has remained an area of ongoing research. To investigate this relationship, the team analyzed measurements from a newly installed electric field mill, an instrument used to continuously monitor the strength of the atmospheric electric field. The instrument was installed at the Center for Technological Education (Roter House) in Holon and became operational in August 2024. It was funded by Israel's Ministry of Education and the Holon municipality. The electric field mill forms part of a broader monitoring network that includes nearby meteorological stations and air-quality monitoring sites. This allowed researchers to compare electric field measurements with detailed weather data and pollution records to better understand what was driving changes in the Potential Gradient. The study focused on two major urban pollutants: fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), both commonly produced by vehicle traffic and industrial activity. PM2.5 refers to microscopic airborne particles small enough to remain suspended in the atmosphere for extended periods, while NOx is a group of gases released during fuel combustion. Researchers examined daily, weekly and seasonal patterns in the atmospheric electric field and compared them with changes in pollutant concentrations. Their analysis revealed a clear relationship between NOx levels and changes in the Potential Gradient, particularly during morning and evening rush hours when traffic emissions were at their highest. “What we observe is a direct physical link between emission peaks and electrical variability,” explained Dr. Roy Yaniv. “NOx reduces atmospheric conductivity very quickly, so the electric field responds almost instantaneously during traffic rush hours.” Atmospheric conductivity describes how easily electrical charges move through the air. According to the researchers, nitrogen oxides rapidly alter this conductivity, causing a near-immediate response in the electric field. PM2.5, however, was associated with a delayed response. The researchers attributed this difference to the particles' longer atmospheric residence time, meaning they remain in the atmosphere for longer periods, as well as their different microphysical interactions with surrounding air and atmospheric components. The study also identified a pronounced "weekend effect." In Israel, traffic volumes and some industrial activity decline significantly on Fridays and Saturdays. During these periods, concentrations of both NOx and PM2.5 dropped, and corresponding changes were observed in the atmospheric electric field. “The weekend signal demonstrates just how sensitive the electric field is to changes in human activity,” the researchers noted. “When emissions decline, the electrical environment adjusts at once, providing a high-resolution indicator of urban atmospheric conditions.” The findings showed that pollution levels can influence not only the chemical composition of the atmosphere but also its electrical properties. Researchers said the results strengthened the case for using atmospheric electricity as an additional tool for environmental monitoring, particularly in densely populated urban areas where anthropogenic, or human-caused, influences are most pronounced. The study also pointed to potential public health applications. By combining air-quality measurements with observations of atmospheric electricity, researchers said they could gain a more complete picture of how urban atmospheric conditions change over time. “Integrating air-quality data with electric-field measurements gives us a clearer picture of how the lower atmosphere evolves moment by moment,” the researchers added. “It’s a framework that can support both scientific insight and practical environmental decision-making.” Beyond the scientific findings, the project highlighted a collaboration between universities, public institutions and secondary education. Researchers said the work demonstrated how students could take part in real-world environmental research while contributing to studies of air quality, atmospheric processes and their potential effects on society. • We aren't even at the all-star game and Microsoft is talking about an update that will most likely be released during the World Series if not after. A lot can happen in the world between now and the 2026 World Series, including the 2026 FIFA Cup. Tell me about it again after the FIFA Cup is concluded. That should allow plenty of time to prepare for it.
