Changes update..

M60 Damage decreased by one bullet's worth from its 25-20. (20 - 16.7)

1911 has had its maximum Rate of Fire decreased to 260 RPM... and an unusual damage change (it basically doesn't change anything though). I'll get to that later.

M1 Garand has gotten a tiny damage increase. Long range damage increased to 28 and range increased to 64.

LMGs have gotten all kinds of accuracy changes. They gain more spread per shot BUT they recover faster when sighted. In most cases, they look like they're going to be MORE accurate.

SMGs have had their range increased. They'll do top damage at a slightly greater distance before it drops.

M16A2 was nerfed by a bullet up close, 14.3 damage at any range.

Seriously why????? You don't ever see people complaining about the M16. Some of these changes don't make any sense. Seems like they're just putting them in there for the hell of it.

I haven't tried the new patch yet (probably going to do it in an hour or so), but that never server browser looks awesome. I didn't think that they would fix it that much, with filters and everything. Hopefully it's as good as it looks :).

Sucks about the M16, though. So they didn't touch the 40 mm grenades, but they nerfed the M16 like crazy. Now they're just ensuring that people will run around with the launcher engaged and the 4 nades specialization.

They did touch the launcher, but they sure as heck aren't encouraging people to not use it as their main when they nerf primaries like the M16 for no reason.

I'm not entirely sure what the second part is though.. the 14.3 damage at any range. No idea what that is supposed to mean.

And then there is this bit of info:

The in-game store for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has been updated with details of Map Pack 3, which will be free for people who have entered in a VIP code. Map Pack 3 will contain Laguna Alta (Squad Rush), and Nelson Bay (Squad Death Match). Thanks to Jordon for the tip!

More maps is always cool, but they're releasing them for the not so popular modes which is kind of disappointing. Don't get me wrong, I like squad death match, but squad rush... never played it and I don't know many that do.

And now it's confirmed, m95 nerfed:

All Bolt Action Rifles (M95 too) do 50 damage at a distance. Better start aiming for heads.

Here's an official change long on the battlefield blog:

http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/battlefield_bad_company/archive/2010/04/21/ch-ch-ch-changes.aspx

The odd thing is that says they didn't change the M95, yet the data in game files is clearly telling a different story.

And here's a change that makes absolutely no sense...

Increased the damage of AA guns against all targets. The AA gun should be much more effective against infantry on Port Valdez.

It's AA, why would it be shooting at anything that's not in the air.

^ :o at some of those changes. Especially with the M16A2, that thing is barely able to hold its own, and they decided to nerf it in CQC? I might aswell just stick to the trusty AN-94 and forget about everything else!

They buffed the AN-94, AUG, F2000, and AEK. But nerfed the M16.. which was one of the most balanced weapons in the game...

Granted the F2000 and AEK needed a buff, but the AN-94 didn't.

LOL, they buffed the AN-94. The devs are on crack man. The AN-94 when mastered properly is an awesome death ray, I already own with that thing (mind my ego :D) so can't wait to see what it is going to be like tonight! (Y)

AEK isn't too bad ya'know, accidentally selected it the other night, got some kills. F2000 is pooh.

I don't understand the difference between a "Tick" and a "Cross" when I try to use the Server browser? (you know, when you are choosing/filtering the Ranked, PunkBuster, Not Empty, etc)

Ticked mean you want that feature, cross means you don't.

For example, if you tick the hardcore box, you'll find servers only with hardcore enabled. If you cross the box, you'll only find servers that don't have hardcore enabled.

you know you screwed up on UI design when something that should be dead simple needs explanation... the server browser still needs a lot of work IMO. It's cluttered as hell now.

Nice to hear that they attempted to fix the launcher. I suppose time will tell if it did any good.

As for the damage thing, I believe the M16A2 used to do 16.7 damage at point blank range and then linearly decreased with distance until bottoming out at 14.3. At least according to this website: http://denkirson.xanga.com/722757523/bad-company-2/

Now it's going to do 14.3 regardless of range. So it'll only be useful on big maps like Atacama now  .

And LMAO at the LMG accuracy increase. I've gone this long without ever touching the Medic class, but apparently this is a war of attrition that I cannot win.

So they managed to make it worse? Guess I won't be returning any time soon then.

so far im not impressed. UI is cluttered as hell now, they just threw **** in, not fix it. m16 sucks, it's not as effective anymore, i have to use to ammo upgrade just to make it "normal" now. medic guns are even cheaper now (more accurate... weren't they stupid accurate to begin with?) The noob tube is unrealistically worse now. Yeah getting killed with one sucks, but the damage it does makes sense...i shot it bang on in between two guys and none of them died, but they had time to realize where it came from and killed me while i was reloading it...

would it be so hard just to copy paste valve/steams server browser?

To be fair, I could care less about the server browser. Never really had any problems with it even in it's more simpler stages. So it doesn't bother me if it's more convoluted. I don't play the game for it's server browser, the weapon balancing on the other hand..

The pointless nerfs to the m16, and m95 (all bolt action rifles) are kind of really irritating though. Then they go and buff LMG's and increase their healing specialization. Their balancing is completely ass backwards.

Oh yeah, they apparently nerfed tank projectiles as well. Not the damage as far as I know, but the drop off. Bazajaytee says they didn't change this but I believe my own experiences with it. Not that this change really matters because there isn't that many big maps to make use of the range.

they could have changed something else that affected that. the balancing before the patch was WAYYYYYYYYY better.

    • You're absolutely right! No reason in hell these should be on the road!
    • They aren't going to want to. Most would just go with the 17 Pro and save money. Why would they want to spend $300 for basically the same thing? It's not worth it if there are hardly any changes from year to year.
    • 24H2 rolled out to the Release Preview Channel in early June 2024, so this coming a bit later in the Experimental Channel (formerly Dev) doesn't really say much more than earlier H2 releases that came out in October. I am not sure what the thinking is here by putting it in Experimental, one would think that the 26H2 stamp means features are locked down and it's now bug tested until October? I don't even pretend to understand Microsoft's strategy for Windows Insider Program though
