Whats up with that screen shot? You're playing in 3d mode or something?

I think that screenshot was taken at the exact instant that the player was revived. If I recall correctly, they do a weird little blurry effect when you're revived.

Sucks to hear that the server browser is still giving some people problems. For me, it's been smooth sailing every time I used it. Filters work great (for the most part), and it refreshes in less than ten seconds now (unlike the old browser, which took over two minutes). I still don't have any pings, and I still get the "server is full" message even when it's at 27/32, but overall it's a giant leap forward.

Is it just me, or is the knife random as hell now? I was playing on Atacama yesterday, and a guy survived two of my knife attacks (to the back, no less), turned around, and killed me with one knife attack to the front. Yet in another instance I killed a guy with one knife attack (to his side as he ran past me) without any problems. Maybe I'm just losing my mind, or maybe I just suck, but that seemed too weird to me.

Knifing is completely bjorked for me.

I knifed some guy in the back 6 or 7 times and nothing happened. Saw blood, heard the sound effect...nada.

He turned around and shot me in the face.

Woooww im so happy im not the only one. This happens to me all the time now. BUT THE BLOOD, I SAW THE BLOOD, heh....

It's like developers try to ruin their games on purpose these days

yeah, but the m16 being crappier is just motivating me to get even better at it. so as soon as they fix it i'll be owning even more with it  But hardcore games are even harder now so i kinda like that...

but that medic guns gotta change, they are just cheap now...

I havnt played it extensively but Medics are STILL overly strong? *sigh*

Yeah, they are, sadly. I was using an AUG against a medic last night. I had the drop on them. I *hit* them 3-4 times before the medic turned around and dropped me in 2 shots from an m60 at about 100 yards.

As I've said before I really don't get a lot of their balance decisions. I appreciate the buffs to several of the assault rifles, but now pretty all of the LMG's are better at any range. It makes absolutely no sense. Medic is supposed to be a support class..assault is supposed to be the assault class. Not the other way around.

realism right??

Yeah, no kidding.

@WastedJoker & bolerodan

It's a known bug that knifing the back doesn't work; fixing something in SP caused this. Should be fixed in the next patch.

Sadly when's the next patch gonna be? 1 month? 2? I don't know how they can let such obviously broken stuff stay in the game for so long. They need to be patching weekly and not monthly. I don't like the idea of giant mmo style patches.

it's crap like that that is going to drive me away from this game... but i need a pc shooter :( back to call of duty 4?

Does anyone know if there is a known issue with the latest WHQL Nvidia drivers? The 197.45 drivers?

Okay, I literally have not played the game in like 10-14 days (pretty much since the updated maps came out), but I wanted to check out the patch changes before I went out to dinner with my wife so decided I would hop on for a bit and play while she was getting ready.

First thing is right after I log in, the resolution resets itself to 1024 x 768, but what is weird is it definitely was not 1024 x 768, it was really stretched out widescreen with huge bars on the top and bottom. So not a huge issue, I just reset it back to 1980, but still, annoying.

But the second issue is the big problem. I could not find ANY servers at all with the so called "new and improved" server browser (which BTW I am not liking it at all right now, besides the obvious reason I could not find any servers, the whole having to tick things off with a checkmark or X is just so counter intuitive). The one and only time it did find any servers, there were 15 servers, and they were all full. That was the only time it actually found anything. I tried for at least 20 minutes. Even quit the game and steam completely, and nothing. Just found nothing. I left it completely unchecked, still found nothing. Left it untouched, still nothing. I tried the just Join Now or Play Now or whatever it is called, which I never do, and it kept saying it could not find any games.

My punkbuster is up to date according to the stand alone punk buster updater, so just wondering WTF is up if anyone knows??

Also just to make sure, I launched Left 4 Dead 2, and I was able to join a game immediately no issues at all, so it really is just BFBC2.

Oh well, leaving for dinner now, but it would be nice if someone perhaps knows what is up so when I get home tonight I can maybe check it out or tomorrow or whatever. Truly annoying, as I was one of the only people that never really had any issues at all with the last version.

I've heard of peoples graphics being reset after the patch and not seeing any servers in the browser. Sadly I don't know of any fixes for the problem. The best I can say is to fiddle with your router settings even though you shouldn't have to.

Oh yeah, and add the BFBC2 folder in My Documents to the exclusion list of your antivirus. There was problems with the game trying to access the settings files and antivirus programs interfering with that which causes lag. Worth a shot at least. That's the best I can do for now.

There is also this thread on the official forums: Not Seeing any servers

It was created just after the maps came out which you say is around the last time you played so you might find some answers in there.

If all else fails we can try giving you some servers to add to the settings files so they'll be in your favorites list and maybe that will work.

Thanks for the detail response.

You know the whole AV idea may not be all that off base. I had to reinstall Kaspersky yesterday as the databases got corrupt, and although it seemed like it retained some of the older settings I had set up prior, I am almost positive that I never had that folder in exclusions to begin with, and it very well may have reset everything to default, so I will also make sure Steam etc. is part of the trusted apps.

Also I wanted to reply to you right away, but I am going to go read that thread you linked to and see what people have to say in it.

What else, I may go back to my old drivers and see if the whole resetting resolution thing does not happen, as that is just a little annoyance for sure.

Finally, I will no doubt post back, probably tomorrow as we got home way later from dinner than I thought we would, so more than likely gonna play with all of this tomorrow, but I will definitely post back and if nothing works I am definitely down to try adding the servers to my favorites just to see if that works.

Thanks again for the help and reply. Much appreciated. (Y)

I have not played since Sunday and I installed the new update and BAH! The knife is ****ing me off, they can kill me with it, but I can't? Also, does anyone notice jumping is a bit laggy? Like when I jump it lags a bit. :/

I know what you mean! It's so gay!

I played it for a good 3 hours yesterday on hardcore.

I felt it was pretty good. Except the knifing. Interestingly, there was no heavy bias on Medics, most of the classes were fairly balanced [maybe because it was hardcore]

However, I felt that hit rego might be a bit off and the slight lag before spawn to be getting extremely annoying

You need to add the following locations to you excluded folders in your AV suite...

C:\Users\**YOUR**USERNAME**\Documents\BFBC2

C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield Bad Company 2

That will stop the spawn lag, 100% guranteed ;)

    • A 13 billion year old secret about our Universe's origin was revealed by Sayan Sen Image by Pascal Küffer via Pexels Researchers at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kernphysik (MPIK) in Heidelberg had recreated a key chemical reaction from the early universe, producing results that could change scientists' understanding of how the first stars formed. The study focused on the helium hydride ion (HeH⁺), which is widely regarded as the first molecule to form in the universe. Scientists believe HeH⁺ appeared around 380,000 years after the Big Bang, when the universe had cooled enough for electrons and atomic nuclei to combine into neutral atoms in a period known as recombination. This marked the beginning of chemistry in the cosmos. Immediately after the Big Bang about 13.8 billion years ago, the universe was extremely hot and dense. As it expanded and cooled, hydrogen and helium became the dominant elements. Once neutral helium atoms formed, they could react with ionised hydrogen nuclei, or protons, to create helium hydride ions. Although simple in structure, HeH⁺ played an important role in the young universe. It was the first step in a chain of reactions that eventually produced molecular hydrogen (H₂), a molecule made up of two hydrogen atoms and now the most abundant molecule in the universe. Molecular hydrogen later became a key ingredient in the formation of the first stars. At the time, the universe had entered a phase often called the cosmological "dark age." Matter had become transparent to light following recombination, but there were still no stars or galaxies producing visible light. Several hundred million years would pass before the first stars appeared. For those first stars to form, large clouds of gas had to collapse under their own gravity. To do that, the gas needed to cool by releasing energy. While hydrogen atoms can help with this process at high temperatures, they become less effective below about 10,000 degrees Celsius. Molecules can continue the cooling process by releasing energy through rotational and vibrational motions. Scientists have long considered HeH⁺ a potentially important coolant because of its comparatively large dipole moment, a property that describes how electric charge is distributed within a molecule and allows it to release energy efficiently. The amount of helium hydride present in the early universe may therefore have influenced how easily the first stars could form. At the same time, HeH⁺ was constantly being destroyed. Under primordial conditions, its main destruction mechanisms were recombination with free electrons and chemical reactions with hydrogen atoms. These reactions ultimately helped produce molecular hydrogen, linking the formation and destruction of HeH⁺ to the chemistry that shaped the early universe. For many years, theoretical studies suggested that reactions between HeH⁺ and hydrogen atoms would become much slower at low temperatures. Scientists believed there was an energy barrier along the reaction pathway that reduced the chances of the reaction taking place in the cold conditions of the early universe. The new study suggests otherwise. To investigate the process, researchers recreated a closely related reaction using deuterium, a naturally occurring isotope of hydrogen that contains one proton and one neutron in its nucleus. When HeH⁺ collides with deuterium, it forms an HD⁺ ion and a neutral helium atom. This allows scientists to study the reaction in a controlled way while closely mimicking the behaviour of the original reaction involving hydrogen. The experiments were carried out at the Cryogenic Storage Ring (CSR) at MPIK, a specialised facility designed to recreate conditions similar to those found in space. Researchers stored HeH⁺ ions in the 35-metre storage ring for up to 60 seconds at temperatures just a few kelvins above absolute zero and merged them with a beam of neutral deuterium atoms. By adjusting the speeds of the two particle beams, the team measured how the reaction rate changed with collision energy, which is directly related to temperature. The researchers found that the reaction rate remains almost constant as temperatures decrease. In other words, the reaction does not slow down at low temperatures as earlier models predicted. “Previous theories predicted a significant decrease in the reaction probability at low temperatures, but we were unable to verify this in either the experiment or new theoretical calculations by our colleagues,” explained Dr Holger Kreckel of MPIK. “The reactions of HeH⁺ with neutral hydrogen and deuterium therefore appear to have been far more important for chemistry in the early universe than previously assumed,” he continued. According to the researchers, the reaction appears to be barrierless, meaning there is no energy obstacle preventing it from taking place efficiently even at very low temperatures. The findings support recent theoretical work led by physicist Yohann Scribano, whose group identified an error in a widely used potential energy surface, a mathematical model used to describe how the energy of a system changes during a chemical reaction. The error appears to have caused previous studies to significantly underestimate reaction rates under primordial conditions. The new calculations closely match the experimental results. Together, they suggest that helium chemistry in the early universe may need to be re-evaluated. Because molecules such as HeH⁺ and molecular hydrogen played an important role in cooling primordial gas clouds, the findings could help scientists build more accurate models of how the first stars formed. By showing that helium hydride was likely destroyed more efficiently than previously thought, the study offers new insight into the chemical processes that shaped the universe during its earliest stages and helped set the conditions for the emergence of the first stars. • "What an interesting smell you've discovered"
    • It could EASILY be 70 for the base game BUT + lots of FOMO to make it up to 100-120, like a few days Early Access, online money, pre-order bonus cars, weapons, missions, clothing, avatars or profile stuff, etc... And still WAY TOO MANY people would buy those and make Rockstar insane money.
