Hi all!

Right now we're using Groundworks (a Nagios varient) to monitor our servers, however we've been having some problems with it (especially a high number of false positives), so we're looking to replace it. We're looking for one that has three specific features:

- Dependencies (such as this server is dependent on this router being up, so if this router fails, we know this server is unavailable).

- Email notifications.

- Ability to read internal monitors (such as health status).

I'm looking at a program called NetXMS, but it doesn't look as if it has any internal monitors other than CPU/Mem/HD utilization.

And of course, if anyone knew of any software like this that's free/open source, that's the most preferred :)

Thanks!

What issues are you having with Nagios? We use it for some additional monitoring we carry out... if there is no budget then you'll need to stick to something like Nagios, ever tried SpiceWorks? I've not but I've seen it mentioned for free etc... there is Solarwinds IP Monitor which I think a free varient exists...

however if you have some small budget I seriously suggest you look into Solarwinds Orion - It's a SUPERB product imho.

I would like to knowm ore about your Nagios issues - are you getting false positives at certain times? certain devices? is it just missed polls? tried setting the failed poll rate to be 3 as opposed to 1 etc?
