Popular games you just can't get into?

I cannot for the life of me get into Final Fantasy 13. I am currently 19 hours in the game and still think it's the worst FF I have played. And I keep playing in hopes it will get better. And based on the FF 13 thread, people are absolutely smittened with the game. So I keep playing expecting something amazing is going to happen.

Heavy Rain is another one. Yes the graphics were amazing, but I felt like they undelivered what they promised, or that David Cage and the marketing for the game made it out to be something it wasn't. Who knows, maybe the next iteration will be great.

ALL of those turn by turn RPG's ..........:s

I agree. I have been a turn-based JRPG player almost all of my life. Ever since Dragon Warrior 1 on the NES. I got the PS1 and PS2 primarily for final fantasy/Square games.

Now that it is 2010, almost every JRPG game I play now feels like I've been playing the same game for 25 years. And playing games like Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age, I now see how far you can really take the RPG genre. I just feel like JRPGs are caught in a rut and they don't know how to evolve to the next level.

Oblivion and Fallout 3 - Played a bit but can't get into it for some reason... maybe I like to look at 'avatar' when I play the game and don't really like first person view for my RPGs.

Bioshock - A bit too creepy for my taste.

Grand Theft Auto (series) - Played 4 for a bit but got bored of it quick.

Tekken 6 - Played it a bit recently and felt the game too boring for my taste... not quite as fun as Tekken 3.

All the GTAs past, present and future.

All the Sims past, present and future.

WOW

Gears of War

Mass Effect: this is a game I should absolutely love and I just cant get into it.

Every NFS except Shift

Dirt 1(worst rally game of all time)

World of Warcraft. Never got used to it. Too vast of a game and the beginning is agonizingly lonely and repetitive.

Counter-Strike. First FPS ever played. Too difficult. Players too experienced (instant headshots) or unsuspecting cheaters.

Final Fantasy Series. These series are absolutely bogus. Most don't relate to one another, just random settings and plots within each one but with similar or identical characters. Up to 13 games...

Left 4 Dead. Boring unless you play with a full set of friends. Otherwise it is extremely repetitive and predictable. No choice in maps or game modes. Just shoot zombies or run to the end...

Rainbow Six Vegas. Great campaign. Horrible multiplayer. Camo selection is stupid; who wears rainbow camo in combat?

Halo.

I've tried 1, 2 and 3. Don't like anything about any of them. Strange, huh? And I adore FPS games.

Same here i've completed number 1 and 2 with a friend over co-op and then tried number 3 but just something about them i just don't like. Too much fantasy maybe..? but i'm a big big fan of fps games!

I can't stand any game where it is based on first person views. including all shooters and most western RPGs like Mass Effect and Fallout3. I hate hate hate first person games. Every time I try one I quit within 10-20 minutes. The perspective kills all hope for me when a game is in first person.

I need to see what I'm playing as or with on the screen at almost all times or else I can't stand it.

My favorite genre is RPG, I have yet to find a western RPG that was interesting or fun to play. I like almost exclusively only Japanese RPGs.

I'm just the opposite. I cant stand 3rd person in any type of game and I never drive outside the car in any racer. I will grin and bear it if its the occasional good game that only offers the 3rd person, but there are hardly any of those. I'm sure you disagree with that tho.

Halo just seemed so terribly average to me.

-WoW and Warcraft.

With WoW, I've actually given it a decent go, to just see what the games like, and I just cannot get into it. I don't enjoy it one bit, and am bored of playing after 10-15 minutes. I just gave up. I've never been a fan of the warcraft games either, I just don't like how they work eh.

I'm a big fan of StarCraft though.

WoW

Smash Bros

Metroid

Metal Gear Solid

To be honest I've never really given Metroid a chance, Smash Bros I simply suck at the game no matter how hard I try, and MGS is too complicated and too far into the ongoing story for me to start it. I tried a bit at my friend's place and didn't understand what was going on.

I never understood the appeal of Smash Bros ever since the first one. But 2 years ago I was at a party where a few people were playing Brawl and had a blast and totally understood. But then again, there was alcohol, so that might be a reason as well

Same as me generally especially RPGs like Oblivion and Fallout 3, though other genres like FPSs tend to be OK by me. For me, I like to see what my avatar looks like on screen with all the weapon upgrades and armor. I like both RPGs whether its jRPG or wRPGs though I'm a bit more towards jRPGs, though I'm starting to like wRPGs more especially Mass Effect series :p

I forgot to mention Fallout 3, though I LOVE Oblivion :p

Oblivion on PC or console? I play on PC and it's totally awesome.

I love RPG games. It very odd that many people seems to suggest that Fallout 3 is like Oblivion. I have not seen any similarity between the two; or perhaps I am watching the wrong trailer.

    • I used a Pixel 10 Pro XL when it first came out for about 8 months. When I first got it, it was using Google assistant and that was fast, when asking it to call somone etc. Then it automatically switched with some update to Gemini. Doing even the simplist of things like asking it to call someone in my contacts was soooooo slow compared to Google assistant. I guess it had to go out to the cloud to do that? Back on iPhone and while Siri is dumb right now, it does do those simple things, like call someone, set a timer, star the stop watch etc, really fast. That an while I like Google Material Design 3 over iOS 26, they Pixel 10 Pro XL was so slow in comparison to the iPhone 17 Pro I am using.
    • I use Gemini in my rotation of AI clients...that work pays for. It is good at most things, better than copilot for imgage searching and making images, worse at writing vs Claude and way worse at hadling technical issues when it comes to Azure stuff. I also use YT premium and maps. Anything else Google is a pass for me. I have now seen multiple people locked out of their Google accounts for reasons that are just very vauge.
    • Microsoft is building an AI datacenter that "uses less water than a fast food restaurant" by Ivan Jenic Image: Microsoft Microsoft has announced plans to build a new datacenter campus in Pecos, Texas, as the company continues to invest billions in AI infrastructure. The new facility, called project Kilby, will reportedly have a capacity of 2 gigawatts and will be one of the largest single capacity additions in the company’s history. To power the campus, Microsoft signed a 20-year deal with Chevron to supply natural gas from the Permian Basin, America's largest oil field. This deal is set to become the largest collaboration to date between a U.S. oil and gas giant and Big Tech. It’s no secret that Big Tech has often been criticized for exploiting natural resources for its AI developments. Microsoft is trying to mitigate some of that negative consensus by promising to build its own power supply for the new datacenter, independent of the public grid. The Pecos datacenter will be powered by a power plant hub, built by Chevron, with up to 2.5 gigawatts of gas-fired capacity, with potential to scale to up to 5 gigawatts. The facility will include at least seven GE Vernova turbines, with first power potentially coming online as early as late 2027 or early 2028. The power plant hub is part of an approximately $7 billion investment by Chevron, making it one of the largest dedicated energy projects tied to a single datacenter campus in the U.S. Microsoft hasn’t publicly disclosed the amount it’s investing in the new datacenter. Microsoft has also committed to implementing a closed-loop cooling system that will only require an initial water charge to operate. The company said that “the total lifecycle water use of this datacenter is only a fraction of that consumed annually by a typical fast-food restaurant.” What the press release doesn’t mention, however, is how much water the natural gas plant itself will consume, or how a 20-year fossil fuel commitment squares with the company's pledge to be carbon negative by 2030. The construction of the new datacenter should provide over 6,000 construction jobs at peak build-out, and create hundreds of operational job roles once the facility is built. Via: Reuters
