Before voting, please read what I have to say. I currently own a Palm Pre and there are things I like and things that are a bit disappointing. The last couple of days I have been thinking about getting an HTC HD2, despite the fact that it doesn't have much of a future.

My mobile phone should ideally do the following things great:

  • Full Exchange Support
  • Calendar
  • Tasks
  • Notes
  • Internet Browsing
  • Email
  • It should offer top speed and a great screen

It should also do a decent job with the following:

  • Music
  • Photos
  • Podcast support
  • maybe a game here and there (but that is certainly not a requirement)

The only OS that has really great PIM support is Windows Mobile 6.5, Add to that the great screen of the HD2 and you have a great internet device. On the other hand, WebOS is the best mobile OS out there but has many weaknesses in the PIM department. Its browser is very good, and it also does a nice job with emails. Games are also available and its multimedia capabilities aren't bad.

What would you do in my place? Stay with WebOS? Buy the HD2? Another Device maybe?

Please not that I live in Germany.

what carrier are you with? id for sure dump palm as it doesn't look good for the company right now. if i were you id go with an android device, maybe even winmo 6.5 if you wish. i own the hero and it's a good phone but im thinking of moving to the touch pro2.

i see your poll..go with the nexus one, hands down!

I've had an HD2 since it was released in November and absolutely love it. I don't think you need to worry about the fact that it won't be getting a WP7S upgrade because it satisfies all your requirements perfectly.

Since you have the HD2, I have a question: Does it normally sync with Windows Media Player? Do the playlists get synced even on the HTC Music App?

I don't want to vote because I want to suggest any Android device, so have a look into that and there's some HTC models not listed that might be good for you.

Android doesn't offer full Exchange support, so it isn't a priority for me.

I wonder, the one person who voted for the iPhone. Did you read what my needs are?

The carrier doesn't play any role. I live in Germany and the HD2 is unlocked. The iPhone is locked to T-Mobile.

I have two phone numbers: One T-Mobile and one by O2

ich w?rds mit dem motorola milestone versuchen. gibts wunderbar g?nstig bei o2. ich hab mein iphone daf?r aufgegeben, ist einfach ein richtig gutes telefon.

it has a great screen, you can play a game every now and then and it basically does everything you need sans the full exchange support but there might be 3rd party solutions.

plus it has an hardware keyboard but isnt much fatter than an iphone, which is great because you can use the keyboard but wouldnt even notice that its there if you have no need for it.

I don't want to get a device that needs 3rd party software to provide Exchange support. There are always issues when such software isn't native to the OS.

    • No. Windows 8 had little to no spywhare, is actually faster than 7 but it has the dreaded start screen, nothing that you could not fix with start8. Windows ME crashed often, but was shotlived and replaced by XP, which is a much better windows in itself.
    • Windows 8 was uninspiring but it was fine / worked. It was just overshadowed by how great Windows 7 was. Windows ME seem to be just unstable for most people - I was using Windows 2000, which was far superior. The two best versions are Windows 7 and 2000
    • I don't think ME was that bad. The stability issues were mostly caused by drivers. This was when the switch from vxd to wdm was happening. The other complaint was not being able to shut down into DOS anymore which was silly with XP right around the corner.
    • As much as I hated Windows 8, although I never used it personally on any of my own machines, I think Windows Me was hands down the worst OS from MS. I have Windows 11 on 2 unsupported machines and haven't had any issues and I actually kind of like it. Still hate how slow Windows updates are though.
    • Why do you think they whol industry would be done? Agree a lot has shifted around the launch with devs moving their dates to avoid the timeframe around the launch. But if this fails, it'll be talked about, analysed, Rockstar will likely be ridiculed but people will move on. Others devs might be more cautious about these large games but I don't think one game will change the entire industry
