?Sherlock? makers sticking to abbreviated seasons

PASADENA, Calif. ? The makers of TV?s ?Sherlock? say even a lobbying effort by British Prime Minister David Cameron wouldn?t persuade them to produce more episodes each season.

But ?Sherlock? co-creator Steven Moffat and producer Sue Vertue tweaked Cameron anyway for lack of effort. It?s been more than a month, they noted, since he visited China and was asked by fans there to press for more of the popular mystery series.

He and Cumberbatch, who said he appreciated the fervor of fans, agreed they are committed to keeping ?Sherlock? going indefinitely.

Great, now how about we get them every year instead of two? :(

Sherlock Season 4 does not currently have a release date, though based on the scheduling of the first three seasons, it will likely come out in Britain and America in 2016.

I don't even know if i'll be alive by twenty sixteen :(

Did you miss me?

The season was pretty meh overall.  I got lost more than a couple times this episode.  For example.. how did Sherlock ruin the girls engagement?  Looking forward to next, hoping it picks up.  For now.. I guess I have elementary.. which sadly has been pretty blah so far.

How he ruins the engagement was pretty straightforward!

Just started watching the series, in the last few days, and finished the first season. I have 3 major complains about the show. There is almost no character development, the seasons are too short, and new seasons only come out every 2 years. I do like the show though, it just makes it harder to really want to watch something that is on such a ridiculous schedule.

I hope the next season doesn't feel as rushed as the most recent season did.

I think the character development issue is a big deal for the villain, not so much for Sherlock and Watson. Adding a few extra episodes to help fill in those gaps would be great though. And it really doesn't even need to be that many episodes, an extra three would probably do it.

I think they want to have something that feels face paced and the way they write the show, that can only be accomplished with three episodes. But that's just my opinion.

When does this start up again? Seems all my favorite shows are coming later in the year :/

There's an announcement at 2:21 today apparently so we might know something then!

The BBC has released an image of the crime-solving duo donning some 19th century threads, and while this looks like a promo image, the BBC?s Twitter account confirms that this is how they?ll appear in the special. Sherlock doesn?t do dream sequences, so I?m intrigued as to why Sherlock and Watson are wearing some period garb. Unfortunately, the answer is a long ways off.

The 80s and 90s Sherlock Holmes starring Jeremy Brett is one of my most favorite TV series to date and the best sherlock series ever to me. Too bad we lost Jeremy too soon.

I'm not really that much of a fan of the new, modern series. It's too over-the-top for me, doesn't really fit the modern era IMO and seems to be geared towards general public and young viewers specifically rather than the regular sherlock holmes fans.

Let's see how this special pans out. I wouldn't mind if they set one season in the Victorian London with cases similar, but not the same, to Conan Doyle's writings.

P.S. I really enjoyed the latest holmes games, Crimes and Punishments.

    • Maybe it's just my old-school soul talking, but I’ve always felt that games aren't 'real' games until they hit the PC. Leaving the PC community out at launch just doesn't sit right with me. That being said, I'm probably going to buy the PS5 just for the fun of trying it out.

    • Rockstar confirms Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders begin next week, unveils cover art by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The release date of Grand Theft Auto VI has moved quite a lot since its original announcement in 2023, but it finally looks like the game has found its final launch slot. Rockstar today had a new video upload on its YouTube channel, and while it wasn't a new trailer for the game, the company revealed two things. This was the pre-order kickoff date for Grand Theft Auto VI as well as the game's official cover art. The company revealed that June 25 is when fans of the series will be able to pre-order their copy of Grand Theft Auto VI. Pre-orders will be available both digitally and in retail stores. The newly unveiled cover art shows off the two new protagonists, as well as a few more characters that are probably vital to the campaign storyline. Shots of vehicles players can use like a light helicopter, motorcycle, sports car, and speed boat are also seen here, alongside a shot of a crocodile. "Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them," says Rockstar describing the campaign's protagonist duo. "But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive." Grand Theft Auto VI is coming to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on November 19, 2026. A PC version has not been confirmed yet, though it's expected by many to land after the console release. When asked about this, the Take-Two CEO says it considers the core audience for the Grand Theft Auto franchise to be on consoles.
