TaskDock is a lightweight application which centers the icons on your Windows 7 taskbar. Unlike the trick which involves adding an invisible toolbar, TaskDock adjusts to the number of icons there are and recenters them automatically.

TaskDock is only 112kb and uses less than 2mb of RAM.

Instructions for 64-bit users

Is this 32bit only? I tried to run it on my 64bit and i get an error about MSCOMCTL.OCX. It will not even launch at all...

EDIT: I actually just tried this on my 32bit and it is having this same issue on it. Am I supposed to place the EXE in a particular folder for it to run?

Hmm... My Win7 seems to not like that command on 64bit. i will research this more. it did, however, fix it on my 32bit copy. Thanks!

Awesome app by the way. I can't wait until all of the bugs have been worked out. I would be willing to bet you could even make some money off this (I know I would be more than willing to pay $10- $20 for it).

Ok. I got this working and will post here incase anyone else has this issue.

* Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and check if you have MSCOMCTL.OCX (it was missing on my 64bit install)

* Copy MSCOMCTL.OCX from the C:\windows\System32 directory to the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 directory

* Open a command prompt and navigate to the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder then type 'regsvr32 MSCOMCTL.OCX' and press ENTER to register the OCX

You should now be able to run the application without error.

A few things on the usage of this application.

One thing to note as I continue, I use small icons on my superbar

* Icon centering is about 2 icons to the right from being centered (I have 6 items currently pinned). Going back to the default 3 icons and restarting the application does result in the icons being centered. Then all newly opened applications does work as expected with the icons moving to the left as needed.

* Unpinning items does not cause the application to recenter the icons

* When closing the application by right clicking the icon and select 'Exit' the application closes but it does not remove from the taskbar until i move my mouse back over the icon.

* As stated, with window stacked, the centering is pushed to the left the space of an icon for each stacked window (It appears that stacked IE windows (when using tabbs) does NOT cause this effect.

* Clicking on the arrow to show the hidden items in the taskbar causes the icons on the superbar to go back by the start button. the only way to get them to go back being centered is to refresh the superbar (I did this by changing the icons to large then back to small) or restarting the application

I will report more as I encounter them, but this has great potential. Great work!
