Half-Life Menu Resolution Question

Hey !

You're saying that lower resolution = more kills ?

Hmm.. Don't you find it easier to get HS when you go into higher resolutions ?

Also, one more question, do you not find it strange that the ak47 aiming is all messed in 640x480 on 3rd-4th bullet compared to higher reso. ?

And yeah, could you please explain the "Top-Left" xhair you talked about ?

Are you saying the during recoil bullets will most of the time go to the top-left of the xhair ??

Thank you.

nope im saying lower resolution = less skills :)

and no i dont find it easier to get hs in higher res

the bullet travels the same exact way, if your basing that statement on bulletholes then i understand why you would say that. Bullet holes are defined by the client, not the server, and the server has no idea what your resolution is, so your bullet holes are random. but it doesnt even matter where the 3rd / 4th bullet goes, if ur shooting more than 2 bullets you should move your xhair down to compensate for the recoil.

and im not saying that the bullets go to the top left of the xhair

im trying to say that the top left of the xhair should be considered as the center when aiming, (this is not true for 1.6, as they've fixed that bug).

and about the recoil, on the contrary with the ak it will usualy go to the right so pulling it down and a bit to the left (somewhere around their left toe if they crouched by the 6th bullet) would be the best thing to do :)

I got it now, asked a few questions on the Steam forums.

Thanks all :)

Also -- I've been playing CS for quite a while (not so much recently, more Tactical Ops recently) and "l33t" players do not play in 640 x 480. You get more viewing area at higher resolutions. And, if you really suck that bad that you have to be playing at 640 x 480 -- you don't need to be playing :p

just spend 2sec thinking about that statement and you'll see the fact that you know jack**** about cs.

100% of all bullets and bullet holes are server controled and are 100% in sync with client.

if it wasn't server controled there would be hacks that would give all guns 0% firing cone, and knife kills across the map among other things.

don't even bother replying to this thread anymore becuase you are full of ****. and your statement of 3years of playing cs shows that you learned nothing.

go educate yourself.

where did you read that?

invite 2 friends over to your house, set up a dedicates server on a computer and join the game with your friends.

shoot some bullets at a wall and compare what it looks like on their screens to your screen

i would also give you a link to an article written on www.sogamed.com that briefly covered that subject, but they empty their database on a regular basis......

please don't take offense to this MxxCon

but

this and the other comments like it are exactly why i don't play CS anymore after playing it for so long :(

or the resolution your're using is too high, besides 600 is the best resolution for half-life since the aiming is pixel perfect and with smaller resolutions theres less pixels..... so its easier to kill people :)

This is purely a myth.

An interesting quote from that article:

Well, with all these people claiming that a lower resolution makes models bigger and makes getting headshots easier you'd think that everyone would play in 640x480 or lower. However, if anyone actually bothered to do research they would realize that they are completely wrong. The following is a comparison of various resolutions compared to 640x480. Each screenshot in a different resolution was resized and the propotions were maintained, so a model takes up the same percentage of pixels in the downsized image as it does in the full size image.

An interesting quote from that article:

I'm gonna have to disagree with this article dude.

First off, just because it is an article off a respected website makes the claim no more valid then people who play CS. The majority of LEETS I think would have a greater claim than one guy who "Does the research".

IF you look at those screen shots the crosshair is definetly much more well defined on lower res. You cannot refute that.. And second, is it me, or are the people "clearer" on lower reseloution. Serioulsy I can see the terrorist on aztec more clearly. Look at the screen shot yourself and assert it.

Well I would agree it doesnt make them "BIGGER" but it definetly helps on lower res.

I've been playing since the early early Beta stages and I started off with 1280 res.

Then went to 800

then went to 1100

then went to 600.

Each one for at least a month at a time.

My accuarcy was always best at 800.

Maybe its just me, but if L33ts claim that lower res helps them, maybe there is some validty to their claim. Because the article states that they "started with lower res" and thats what they are used to. I started out on higher res and got better wiht lower res. You could argue its just because I got better over time, But I took a one YEAR hiatus from CS before I went to a lower res...

Totally agree, But I cant find any other name to call them  ?

Maybe Jacka$$es? lol

I hate how in CS people claim to be SUPERRIFIC,

They claim they are better without even testing the water. It would be like me saying, OH Im better at dodgeball than any of you. I havent even played any of you, how could i make such a stupid claim.

Stupid "Leets"....

An interesting quote from that article:

im saying there ARE LESS PIXELS

you cant say the ammount of pixels is the same in 1600 as in 640, and aiming is PIXEL PERFECT

the article mentions nothing about that =\

besides, i wouldnt trust anything posted on DOG
