Font folder not showing all fonts

Recommended Posts

First, I had this problem https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/891978-small-problem-on-facebook-thats-bugging-me/

from that, I discovered that only 10 of my fonts are visible in my windows\fonts folder. I'm running Windows 7 and have hundreds of fonts installed. I need to be able to access them all in order to delete the old version of Lucida Grande I have.

Why can't I view all of my fonts? I have hidden folders visible and have tried searching and everything.

Weird, i clicked start and type "fonts" and pulled up my font folder. Showing me 146 fonts right now.

When I do this I only see 10 :/ when I install a new font, it shows up for a split second and then disappears. It makes no sense to me.

Um only 10??? Yeah you got something really screwed up there.. I have been playing around with sorting, grouping, etc. etc.. and there is no way a default windows install has only 10 fonts.. Not even if sorted/filtered by family, etc. etc..

Can you post a screen shot of what your seeing - so maybe we can get a clue to how you might be filtering/sorting the list, etc.

Also, there's a setting under Font Settings that hides fonts based on your language settings. That might have something to do with it.

BTW, if I type "font" into the search box in the font folder, it filters out all but exactly 10 fonts.

As you can see in the screenshot, I have nothing typed into the box :/ and I have the language setting off too.

What happens when you go into Word/Notepad/Whatever and try to select a font? Are there more than 10 available?

Check the Event Log for any errors. Make sure the Windows Font Cache services is started. It also appears that your font window is not rendering the "Abg" glyphs in the preview icons.

Obviously, things were working before because you have that other thread about Lucida Grande, so something changed in between then and now. What version/platform of Windows are you running? This is a strange problem that probably has a very simple solution.

Yeah, what's also weird is the Abg glyphs WERE showing not too long before I posted this...

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit Professional. Font cache service is running. Event log shows some errors but nothing seeming to relate to this.

And The_Decryptor, I don't think it's that because I can right click and choose to group. But perhaps that is the case, I don't truly know.

Do the same 10 show up in notepad aswell? Or do you have a fuller selection?

In notepad, word, etc. I have a full selection. When I'm in C:\Windows and i right click "Fonts" and view properties, there's something like 800+ files. When I enter the folder, all I see is those 10 fonts.
