So I downloaded the Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate ISO from MSDN as I did for 2005 and 2008 and installed it all fine but there is no included MSDN Library. It appears that the installable MSDN Library option has been replaced by some (even ****tier) web browser based help system which you have to download and install manually?!
Is there not an installer for these new "help packages"? I can't find much information on what the state of the MSDN Library is when working with 2010 which is a shame.
I still would not turn my printers off, the energy on standby is minimal, i like them ready to be used. I can kind of understand your reason for disabling the spooler, never done it myself, seems like a waste of time, anyway I use a Mac for most things these days. The one thing I must get in the habit of doing is turning the scanner off from the mains, i have a smart plug that I will stick on it, the scanner have a external PSU and still pull a fair bit of energy, even when not in use and I don't use it that often.
I can understand turning the printers off, maybe, but the energy they use while on standby is very small, my Brother LED printer, uses less than a watt in deep sleep, the same as the Epson printer. So compared to other stuff they use nothing. I don't use the printers as much as i used to, I want to use the Epson more, which is an ink-jet, that is why I got it to do photos and crafting stuff.
Turning a laser off is fine, mine will go to a off state, it then uses even less energy. The Brother while it is a LED printer, it works the same way as a Laser printer, but with LEDs instead of a laser.
as i said, i don;t use the printers as much asi used to, but I like the idea that they are there when I need them.
we also turn off the printer thesee days, because we print something like once a month
we were printing several times a week in the past, so printer was kept on, but we don’t print much right now, so we turn it off…
btw, it’s a laser printer
