Shane Mosley says he is confident of causing an upset and inflicting a first defeat on Floyd Mayweather when they meet in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Mosley, 38, is the underdog for the non-title welterweight encounter, but is still predicting a knockout.

"I'll go for a knockout, but I'll be shocked to see him laying there on his back like that," said Mosley.

"The key is going to be speed and power. I'm in the best shape of my life and I'm not worried about ring rust."

Mosley, who has 46 wins from 52 fights, has not fought since a ninth-round stoppage of Antonio Margarito in January 2009, but far from being worried about his long sabbatical, he is drawing inspiration from that shock win.

"They were picking Margarito to win by a landslide, and people were worried about my health and saying he was going to retire me," added Mosley, whose WBA welterweight title is not up for grabs.

"I'm saying to you guys again, that isn't going to happen. He's not going to beat me.

"When the fight starts, I'm going to go out there, I'm going to throw some traps here and there, touch him here and there, see what's going on. I'll probably be able to tell from the first bell what kind of fight it's going to be."

While Mayweather, 33, has won most of his 40 bouts with relative ease, some observers have pointed to his split decision win over Oscar de la Hoya in May 2007 as providing the blueprint to defeating him.

De la Hoya troubled Mayweather in the first half of the fight with a stiff left jab, a shot that Mosley agreed could be key at the MGM Grand.

"It's been proven," added Mosley, a three-weight world champion. "Not just Oscar, but other fighters. Some of the southpaws fought him pretty good with their left hands. So maybe it's not a jab, maybe it's just a left hand.

"But that's just one strategy. I can't just base my fight on throwing a jab. You have to be ready for a bunch of different things, because you're fighting a special fighter."

Mayweather, who was set to fight Philippine superstar Manny Pacquiao before a row over pre-fight blood-testing derailed negotiations, said his defence would be his key weapon.

"It's that defence, you can't break through that defence," said five-weight world champion Mayweather. "It's not cool to take punches. If I was in a bunch of wars, I probably wouldn't be here giving you guys interviews right now.

"All I did was constantly beat whoever they put in front of me, I'm never going to get my just due. All these fighters they put in front of me, they've all been cake walks for me.

"I'm Floyd Mayweather - all the rest of them are just fighters."

sugar gonna lose... badly

How can you say that unless you really don't know anything about Shane Mosley. This guy is a warrior and has been in there with the best. Who has Floyd beaten? In my opinion this is Floyd's first real test. I would like to see Floyd win just to see him fight Manny and finally put the debate to rest. This will be an interesting fight Saturday night.

mosley is going to be the equivalent of what mayweather did to gotti

Will we ever get to see Money vs Pac Man?

you hope after this fight it may happen but it will either be down to money (like real money not the boxer) or it will never happen due to the drug testing before and after fights.

I hope we see it but I don't know it might be the fights thats to good to never happen.

You're not seriously comparing Gatti and Mosley are you?

Pacqauio wouldn't be able to keep up with mayweathers speed

Manny is quicker than Mayweather. What are you talking about? What about power? Floyd beat him there to?

at this stage of their careers, yeah i am.

but who knows who would win, manny decides to take a bloodtest or mayweather says no drug testing then we'll find out.

Floyd has the best defense in the game, but I don't know how the defense will hold up against the speed and the power with which Manny throws. If Mayweather sits in the corner and does that little standing to the side with his left glove on his chin Manny might put him in the third row. You could pull that off against Zab Judah, but not Manny Pacquiao.

Wait, Mayweather isn't pussing out of this fight? Well.. That's a pleasant surprise.

More like being cornered on a wall.

I worry about Shane physical condition. Being 38 and fighting arguably the best defensive fighter of all time in FLoyd, I don't think he can go the distance without losing gas. Bro Nazim ought to have the strategy to beat Mayweather the question is can Shane execute it.

I'm rooting for Shane but my money is on UD/SD FLoyd.

    • Never had a problem with TPM and started using that many years ago in Win10. Through several motherboards and OS versions, it just does what it does without complaint. My games library doesn't even know it's there. Secure boot does a lot more than support anti-cheat, as it came along long before anti-cheat software. I've used it religiously since before I started using TPM, and I always liked it for being able to nullify virus contagions that try their best to come in underneath the firmware during boot, so that the OS doesn't see them, etc. That is its purpose, imo. I'll never understand why people who elect to use another OS feel compelled to run down Windows... I guess they need to do that to feel secure about their choices? I run Windows because it supports all the software (including games) natively that I want to buy, and I've never had to run down another OS to make me feel better about it. (Although it's certainly possible to do that, of course...) Win10 is on a ventilator atm, and Win11 is very close to being free, and I finally got to stop running StartAllBack as I moved to the Experimental/Dev channel and my 26300.8553 build supports the moveable taskbar and it's running fine at the top of the screen! Finally, my last major dislike of Win11 is being rectified! So, I'm not at all surprised to see Win11's share of the Steam survey hitting 70%.
    • I can answer about the Linux bit. I only used AMD GPUs. I currently have a 9060XT (8GB) that fits my needs, I'm not a gamer, so I don't need that much GDDR. But lately, NVIDIA has grown a lot in the recent years. Oh, the horrors of NVIDIA drivers not working. But they have been getting better. I know a lot of members onm here that are running cachyOS and other distros, and are fine with a 4090/5090 variants. Really, though, I would stick with AMD variants.
