Setting this value to 2200 and afterwards adjusting cleartype to the strongest text made my Firefox fonts look so much better. Using Calibri 16 in Firefox.

I have 2000 by default  Might be related to me using GDI++ Firefox looks okay by now but without DirectWrite still better :s

Thank you. browser.warnOnQuit;true did the trick.I wonder why mozilla decided to make the default not to ask to save tabs on exit???This is one of the best features i use in FF.I even use a session store addon on my chrome which is far from what i want, but still can get my tabs after exit.

It saves them - check your options, the first one on the General tab, under Startup. Mine says 'Show my windows and tabs from last time'.

I believe it was removed as just being a slightly useless extra dialog (certainly I never chose 'no, don't save' when I closed it).

That is something completely different and it ALWAYS shows you your last tabs(and i don't want it to always reopen my last tabs).

How is it completely different? As far as I can tell the only difference now is that it doesn't ask you each time (which is likely because people very rarely change their choice).

The signed build of beta 10 build 1 is available now:

ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/4.0b10-candidates/build1/win32/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%204.0%20Beta%2010.exe

Any new features in beta 10 or is it just more bug fixes?

Is this the official Beta 10 then?

Not liking the new Ctrl + Shift + E shortcut for Panorama so much. Just found out Ctrl + Shift + W closes the whole browser. :/

At least it made me finally change the option to automatically restore tabs.

Also, can't wait for the startup improvements. My cold starts had improved a lot before beta 9, but now I'm back to around 20 seconds cold start. I'm thinking the pre-loading will help me out a lot because a warm start only takes about 1.5 seconds for me with an old, loaded profile.

Not liking it because it changed from the original version, or something else?

(You will always have to deal with things changing within beta.)

I didn't like that I accidentally closed Firefox a couple of times by hitting W instead of E. Funny thing is that the shortcut was changed because people were accidentally opening Panorama.

It's no big deal to me, though, since I can get everything back pretty easily.

In beta 9, is anyone else having a problem where choosing "Undo Close Tab" in the tab bar options will open it in the first tab candy group instead of the one that is currently open?

I closed a tab in a tab group today, clicked the Undo option, and it reappeared in the first tab group and switched me to it. Not a major issue I guess, but confusing as hell :/

I don't remember exactly what that glitch was filed under, but I do remember encountering it very often. Anyway, I use the nightlies, and it has been fixed since then.

    • One reason it might be running hotter is dust build up within the cooling or perhaps the paste has dried out. You could always try repasting your old GPU and cleaning the cooler. Your experience in Linux will be much better with an AMD GPU; the performance in gaming is much closer to Windows than nVidia would be. I personally think on Windows, AMD drivers are junk.
    • I reviewed it back in March, but I didn't have a 5070 at the time https://www.neowin.net/reviews/amd-rx-9070-review-vs-rtx-5070-4070-and-rx-9070-xt-7800-xt--just-good-enough/ When I reviewed the 9070 I did have a 5070 to compare it against, so the scores are there for the 9070 XT. it outperforms the 5070 in raster, and is barely neck and neck in Ray Tracing. So it's better than a 5070 in everything but Ray Tracing where it is neck and neck, or just under. To be honest, the uplift from 3080 when it was new to the 9070 XT is not as great a step up. If you can find a used 4080 Super for around the same money, you would probably be better off, but if you only want to buy new then the 16GB 9070 XT is the best value for money in its category.
    • I really hope the author's health is ok. Squirreling away a official backup of this software. Looks like the internet archive already cached a copy as well - https://web.archive.org/web/20...ldbit-soft.fi/software.html
    • AMD is supported out of the box in linux because of their open source driver. Nvidia does not. All my systems are amd and all of them work nicely on linux arch without doing anything.
    • Never had a problem with TPM and started using that many years ago in Win10. Through several motherboards and OS versions, it just does what it does without complaint. My games library doesn't even know it's there. Secure boot does a lot more than support anti-cheat, as it came along long before anti-cheat software. I've used it religiously since before I started using TPM, and I always liked it for being able to nullify virus contagions that try their best to come in underneath the firmware during boot, so that the OS doesn't see them, etc. That is its purpose, imo. I'll never understand why people who elect to use another OS feel compelled to run down Windows... I guess they need to do that to feel secure about their choices? I run Windows because it supports all the software (including games) natively that I want to buy, and I've never had to run down another OS to make me feel better about it. (Although it's certainly possible to do that, of course...) Win10 is on a ventilator atm, and Win11 is very close to being free, and I finally got to stop running StartAllBack as I moved to the Experimental/Dev channel and my 26300.8553 build supports the moveable taskbar and it's running fine at the top of the screen! Finally, my last major dislike of Win11 is being rectified! So, I'm not at all surprised to see Win11's share of the Steam survey hitting 70%.
