There will not be a Beta 13. I expect one or two RC's.

actually they have not ruled out the possibility of a beta 13 :\

"B12 has a small enough list of bugs that it's plausible it will be the last beta, though we're not locking that up, since some of the plugin work needs to crystallize before we can assess timing risk."

i personally am getting fed up with using firefox 3.6 :wacko: its so slow but i refuse to use beta software either.

I thought something had changed as stratiform is kinda broken with today's nightly.

I disliked the bubble in the bottom left corner as I found it distracting so disabled it using stylish. now they have gotten rid of the hovered urls appearing in the url bar I have no way of telling if need be. I see no reason why they should have removed it from the url bar. I kinda feel this release is going backwards now in terms of the UI. :/

I hope somebody can make an add-on that brings back some of the scrapped features or it can be bought back as part of stratiform.

Well it was kinda strange to see loading messages in the lower left bar and look for hovered url in the adressbar.These both should be in the same place.The bottom left bar was the better choice and i like it.I have been using chrome for a while and got used to it showing those down there and i am happy now FF is showing them down there too.

Everyone hates that but Mozilla seems to now be a follower and stopped leading. There is an extension called Status4Evar that will fix part of this as well as an ext called URL Tooltip that will ease the distraction. I filed a Bug on this but Mozilla will not fix it.

I use the Nightly builds and they are very stable and have been for quite some time. The Final release of Firefox 4 is scheduled by the end of February. I think that they will skip Beta 13 and go directly to an RC. Beta 12 should be out tomorrow or Tuesday.

There were lots of complaints about the URL bar overlay. I haven't agreed with much of what the design team has done lately, but they seemed to really want to keep the links and status in the URL bar.

I liked it, personally. I use a 1080p monitor with Firefox maximized and the Omnibar extension installed, so it didn't affect me, but it wasn't very practical for netbook users and the like.

Also, Status4Evar seems to be broken now. I'm not getting anything in the bottom corner or the URL bar.

i know what you mean, ff 3.6 was pssing me off with how slow it was + crashing, also checking out this thread for new firefox awesomness didn't help.

i've been using beta10 for the last 4 days (as my main browser), it actually seems more stable than 3.6 (but that's probably bcos of all extensions i had installed)

S4E is not broken if you are using the latest release Status-4-Evar 2011.01.17.02.3 . There also is an extension called Status Address Bar 1.7 that places the status back into the URL Bar. S4E has an option to hide the other Status text. It seems that Mozilla does not know when they have a good thing.

im just afraid to use beta software incase it brakes something or is really buggy.. i might upgrade once release candidate is out tho because there wont be much of a change between RC and Final.. wasnt 3.6 RC2 the same as 3.6 final just took off the RC name with no additional bug fixes, etc.?

oh yeah they did say they wont build beta 12 till the beta N blockers are all fixed and than the rest of the blockers are on the release candidate build.

They already have 3 Beta 12 candidates. I was using one this morning. It is fast and stable. As previously stated B12 will be out either tomorrow or Tuesday.

there is no beta 12 yet.. you must be refearing to beta 11 and no it wont be out tomorrow is sunday.. it will be out monday afternoon sometime.. beta 12 is most likely to be out the week of feb 14 at the earliest.

Yes you are right, Beta 11. Beta 11 will be out on Monday or Tuesday. Sorry for the confusion. There was talk about Beta 12 being out very soon/days after 11. We will see.

I don't get why people are getting so mad about it coming out later then expected. I'd rather have a product that is finished and less bugs, then a product that rushes out their product and has so many annoying bugs (like Google did with Chrome).

The nightly builds of Firefox are almost completely stable for me atm and have no problem waiting for the final to come out, to work out the remaining major bugs.

Because any version other than 4.0 is slow and outdated and many people don't use beta software and want the final stable version already.

Well, I'd rather wait for Mozilla to take their time fixing bugs, rather then releasing it already with bugs still not worked out. Either use another browser for the time being or simply wait.

Then you don't need to wait. If your not going to use it why wait. It is stable in it's present form and today's nightly is far superior than any other released browser on the market.

      WhatsApp slams Isreali firm, NSO Group, for trying to spy on its users by David Uzondu WhatsApp has come out accusing Israeli cyber-intelligence firm, NSO Group, of deploying a fresh wave of highly targeted "spear phishing" attacks against users, which its security teams successfully thwarted. The Israeli firm, according to WhatsApp, ran this operation like its usual one-click phishing campaigns, trying to get people to click malicious links that lead them to external sites. To coordinate the campaign, the spyware vendor created fake test accounts and groups on the messaging app. WhatsApp said it is sharing the specific malicious domains, ikhwancast[.]com, ghazacast[.]com, and fr24cast[.]com, because potential victims need this data to check if they were targeted across other messaging systems or email platforms. The NSO Group is infamous for creating and selling Pegasus, a military-grade commercial spyware capable of silently compromising smartphones simply by sending a message or placing a missed call via apps like WhatsApp or iMessage. Users do not even have to interact with the incoming notification before the infection takes hold. Once Pegasus manages to break in, the spyware harvests private data, letting operators read private messages, emails, photos, and documents. It also tracks precise GPS locations, records keystrokes, activates the device's camera, and monitors live microphone audio. Independent investigations by cybersecurity watchdogs like The Citizen Lab and human rights organizations like Amnesty International have proven that governments use this software to track humanitarian workers, journalists, diplomats, and political dissidents. These findings directly contradict NSO Group claims that clients use the technology to spy on criminals and terrorists only. In late 2021, the U.S. Department of Commerce added the firm to its Entity List, effectively banning the vendor from buying hardware and software from American tech companies. WhatsApp said in its blog post that the spyware vendor violated a permanent court injunction with this new spear-phishing campaign. This injunction, which took effect in 2025, strictly prohibited NSO Group from targeting WhatsApp and its users. The platform is now asking a federal court to hold the firm in contempt.

      It would be surprising if even 3 year old Apple Watches (and not SE models at that) cannot run watchOS 27. Granted, it doesn't mean it would work as well. We'll see.

As a parent, you'll get access to a simpler setup experience, Ask to Browse, Time Allowances, and a redesigned Screen Time. You'll be able to pick exactly which apps your child can access on their device, choosing from just a few essential apps, a curated set, or the apps you feel are appropriate. There will be an option to gradually add more apps. Ask to Browse is a new feature that requires kids to request permission before visiting a new website in Safari on iPhone, iPad, or Mac. You can also turn on a setting that requires your kid to ask for approval before connecting with an unknown contact via Messages, FaceTime, or the Phone app. You can manage your child's screen time more effectively with Time Allowances that work across categories, including Games, Entertainment, and Social Media. Overall, the Screen Time section has been revamped and provides a bird's-eye view of your kid's average device usage and most-used apps. "For example, to help protect important family moments, parents can quickly limit access during meals, outdoor play, and other times that deserve full attention. If kids need a little extra time to finish something in an app, parents can also easily extend access," Apple said. Apart from these, Communication Safety has been updated to block gore or violent content when detected in shared images or videos. The feature already blurs nudity in Messages and FaceTime calls, and is enabled by default for users under 18.

      They already threw the Ultra 1st gen under the bus? It really feels like someone screwed up, and that advanced AI features will only be available on the list above but someone screwed up and said that Watch OS 27 in general will only be available for those models. I think they will pull it back. I did see someone also put a snap shot of their series 9 watch being offered the watch os 27 beta. As the backlash online is already in full swing.
