actually looks like a nice update (Y)

Looks the same to me. I got in to the beta, I'll have a look in motion later.

I don't get why they have bothered to be honest. They've left this game for a long time without tangible updates. Some new weapons would have been nice say oh 4 years ago. How about some new Maps? A graphics overhaul?

Heck how about a Counter Strike 3? -- Just seems rather pointless to spend any development time on a game that they have obviously abandoned a long time ago.

I'd really like to see Valve try and do a Call of Duty / Battlefield Bad Company type of game. But at the same time I'd want to play it before I'm 75 so maybe just best they focus on other things.

They may have done this to help with the port to Mac.

+ Add a new wallpaper bg

+ Remove the Visual stress test

+ Work on the gui, its cluttered and messy

+ The freeze death cam is useless

+ Achievements don't work

+ It doesnt work with Steam Cloud.

This was hardly worth a beta.

Depends what parts of the overall update the beta is intending to test...

Still there for me :)

really now people, complaining that your getting something for free???? what is up with that attitude? Valve supports their games like no other company. This game is how old? and it still got a update. New weapons would not have done anything to the gameplay but probably break it more. New maps can come from the community, as CSS is such an old game, I could see valve not supporting it anymore and I'd still be fine with it.

Sure, a new CS might be cool, but really, there is nothing that can really be done to the game. It's a reaction based team shooter. aside from just somehow battlefielding it up, the game has reached its peak a long time ago lol.

I'm more ****ed off about how they brought the beta out, I was in the last beta for CS Source (2004ish) and would've loved to get a hold of this and beta test it.

Same. The people that happened to hear about it before the slots isntantly ran out are the only ones that get it.

With you on that one. I've been apart of every CS beta, even the original half life cs beta, back when cs_docks was one of the only and best maps. They should open the beta up for more to join, or at least for those who beta tested the CS:S game when hl2 was still under production.

I didn't even KNOW that the CS:Source Beta was coming out.. Nor that they were doing an update, the opt-in was for "Steam Client Beta".

I wish they did more with this franchise. Counter-Strike + Valve has been a big disappointment.

:( The Orioles is a big disappointment, hasn't been the same since Ripken Jr. left, hopefully the Ravens will get better this coming season too.. Anyway, yeah CS:S needed the update around when DoD:S got updated, not now, and certainly not by a third party developer.

Isn't that the truth. Orioles are an awful team right now.

They updated their most popular online game, why is that such a big deal? They promised 3 or 4 years ago to update it to the Orange Box engine and now they have, and people complain they've finally done it. They've also changed some other stuff like weapon recoil, running speed while holding certain weapons and yet people complain they didn't change anything important and just wanted to add achievements and the freeze cam.

Righttttt.

The visual stress test is there for me. GUI is fine, all they need to work on is the font. The freeze death cam is useless? Is it useless in TF2 and DoD:S as well? If you think it is, then you can DISABLE it in the options. Achievements work fine for me. And hey, I just synced up with Steam Cloud after playing just now, imagine that.

Mmhmmm :|

So does it run better or worse now???

Runs way better for me. Plus it loads INSANELY faster now as well. I was shocked how fast it loaded up the first couple of times.

The very high textures and motion blur etc are nice touches and look good considering how old the game is of course.

I was playing before and I reached the 300FPS cap easily. The lowest FPS I got was around 150 during more intense scenes. Definitely better than before for me.

    • I set out to take a few of his quotes and change them fit this article. The hilarious thing is that other than subbing in "movable volume indicator," I didn't have to change anything at all. His words were just fancy sounding gibberish that could literally apply to anything :-)

    • how big is your HDD that only has 100gb left? I take it this the main drive.  Is this a pc or laptop? I ask because changing hdd in pcs are much easier. You sure a good clean/purge of data wouldn't clear up space - have you ran disk cleanup? Which is part of windows..  You can for sure move data to your external drive, install programs to it, etc - but using it to store updates?
    • How to record screen as GIF in Windows 11 by Taras Buria The Snipping Tool app is already quite a capable program for screenshots and screen recordings. Still, there is always room for improvement, and many users agree that the app needs the ability to save screen recordings as GIFs. Microsoft heard those users, and recent updates introduced the long-requested feature, allowing you to record your screen as a GIF. Here is how to do it. Record screen as a GIF in Windows 11 Note: By the time of publishing this article, GIF support in Snipping Tool is only available to Windows Insiders. However, you can enable that feature on stable Windows 11 releases as well; here is how: Go to store.rg-adguard.net, select ProductID in the first drop-down, paste 9MZ95KL8MR0L into the search box, and select Fast in the last drop-down. Press the checkmark button. Find and download Microsoft.ScreenSketch_2022.2505.21.0_neutral_~_8wekyb3d8bbwe.msixbundle in the list of apps. The version number could be newer, just make sure you are downloading an msixbundle file. Note that the browser will warn you about downloading a potentially harmful file. Open the file and click Update. Download ViveTool from GitHub and unpack the files in a convenient and easy-to-find folder. Run Command Prompt as Administrator and navigate to the folder containing the ViveTool files with the CD command. For example, if you have placed ViveTool in C:\Vive, type CD C:\Vive. Type vivetool /enable /id:47081492 and press Enter. The steps above might seem a bit tedious, but that is the only way to get GIF support in Snipping Tool without enrolling your device in the Windows Insider program. We will update the article once the feature is publicly available, so there is no need to jump through all the hoops just to make it work. Tip: You can always roll back Snippint Tool to the latest version from the Microsoft Store by uninstalling it and downloading it again. Now, with GIF support enabled in Snipping Tool, here is how to save a screen recording as a GIF in Windows 11: Press Win + Shift + S, select screen recording mode and record whatever you want. After the recording is over, Snipping Tool will open your video so that you can view, trim, or save it. At this point, all you have to do is click the GIF button in the upper-right corner. On the next screen, select your GIF quality and click Export to save as a file or Copy to copy it to the clipboard. And that is how you save screen recordings as GIFs in Windows 11. Note that Snipping Tool can only save GIFs for up to 30 seconds. Anything beyond that will be cut off. You might think that Clipchamp, Windows 11's built-in video editor, is a good option when you want to save a screen recording as a GIF. However, it really sucks at that. The video duration is capped at just 15 seconds, which is even worse than the Snipping Tool, and the output resolution is hilariously low. The latter makes it impossible to distinguish any details, and all you get is a blurry, pixelated mess. No, Clipchamp is not a good option for that. If you want to create GIFs that are longer than 30 seconds, a good option is to go with apps like ShareX, which is extremely flexible and customizable (and also free, which makes it one of our favorite must-have apps for Windows 11). Alternatively, you can record a video using the Snipping Tool and then convert it to a GIF using web-based services like Ezgif, another great free utility. Keep in mind that the larger your video resolution and the longer its duration, the bigger the final GIF size. Depending on the settings, GIFs could reach hundreds of megabytes, so you have to set your expectations correctly (and so do the settings, too).
