dior_addict
i just came back from camp today, and they gave me a red camp shirt. So i threw it in the laundry, with all my other clothes. When the laundry finished, all my white shirts were stained, my blue plaid shirt was fairly stained on the side, my other gray shirt was stained, and my grayish "kiks" shorts where stained so much that it looked like blood. My question: is there a way to get rid of the stain? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/90475-new-red-shirt-stains-clothes/ Share on other sites

Steven
This is why you seperate the Whites from the colors. Also anything new, should be washed alone, because the excess dye from the shirt will bleed away. username
wash the whites a lot with hot or warm water a few time, you may not be able to get all of it out Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/90475-new-red-shirt-stains-clothes/#findComment-1024752 Share on other sites

DO NOT soak your clothes in bleach! You'll ruin them. I think your clothes are pretty much ruined. You need to learn to separate your colors from the whites and warm/hot from cold when you do laundry. I've found it's also a good idea to just wash the reds by themselves. I dumped all my dirty clothe sin the basket when i got home, and fell asleep on the bed, and my mom did the laundry. :/ Id though she knew at least to seperate whites from colors... poind
Anything you run through the dryer will set like that. Do not soak in a bleach mix--it'll ruin stuff. Try soaking in Clorox 2 instead, and try washing the whites with bleach. Might need to do it multiple times. Too much bleach will just eat holes in things. In general though, bad idea to mix lights/whites with colors, especially reds, especially new things. poind
If you're still reading, I've had some nasty stains (like red wine), totally removed by soaking and scrubbing in Clorox 2 (blue bottle) as long as they haven't been dried in a machine. With new red dyes, you might be out-of-luck, but it's worth a shot. saphyre1024
well for future reference...if u one day end up mixing whites w/ colors u could wash both easily as long as you wash them in cold water...about taking the red out of the other clothes, that's happened 2 me b4 and i ended up replacing the clothes because no matter how many times i washed the clothes the red dye never came out Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/90475-new-red-shirt-stains-clothes/#findComment-1026486 Share on other sites
