Am I the only one who's not getting p'ed off over this delay? It's still coming out this year. At the most, it's a seven or eight week delay. We've officially waited 231 weeks already (basically, since E3 2006, when it was first announced as "Vision Gran Turismo"), or 4 years and 5 months, so surely a few extra weeks of waiting won't kill you?

If it's only a few weeks like they're saying then laughs aside, not really. Andy and co clearly couldn't care less, it's just a chance to trollz0r.

This had to be in the works for some time now. No way you can delay a game 17 days before release. It has to take at-least a month or more to get the game to production and burned to BluRay and then sent to distributors. Either something major really did happen or the 2nd Nov release date was BS from the start. I am ****ed because I went and bought a PS3 just for this release. Once a release date was set I committed.

?We?re really close, but this was an executive decision that was made yesterday,? said Taku Imasaki, the North American producer for ?Gran Turismo 5,? in a phone interview. ?Realistically, we thought we had a good date. We?re not happy over here.?

I can guarantee that this won't be just a couple of weeks. Can someone tell me after six years, what the hell they are doing?

Making an incredibly ambitious game.

Sony stated that they will let us know at before the end of October as to what the new release date is.

Yes, the GT5 European has also been delayed, we are sorry to say. We expect to confirm a new release date before the end of the month.

Announcement for an announcement. Could be anytime for a release now :(

deep down i hope this doesn't get released until past xmas so sony can get owned by MS and Nintendo during xmas. no one other then gamers (and even then it's just a tiny tiny number of them) give a **** about the Wii HD because those grandparents and kids already have a Wii and could care less that it's not HD.

Won't happen. Both the US and UK blogs say it will be released before Christmas, so a maximum of just over two months of waiting.

Just like they said it would be released in 2007, oh wait!

Just like they said it would be released in 2009, oh wait!

Just like...yeah you get the idea. Don't take anything they say as a guarantee, cause quite frankly their track record is **** and their word meaningless.

Yes but it's pretty clear the game is almost complete this time given the media coverage.

And the first time the game was scheduled to be released was 2008, get it right PS3 lover boy ;)

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm going overboard :p calmed down now. Hopefully the delay is only a few weeks. The game already looks good to ship from what we have seen, so hopefully it's just a few tweaks that need to be done....fingers crossed! I know alot of people are upset over at GTPlanet, since they booked time off work and everything.....I'm lucky I couldn't be bothered! (it was going to release on a Thursday here in Oz which wasn't too bad). EB Games here in Australia have updated the release date to TBC November 2010, so hopefully that is a sign the delay isn't that bad.....I hope.

For me its not rage, its a much a disappointment. I won't be giving sony any money for this product now, I'll still get it it but probably pre-owned a few months after release.

What I'm really concerned about it why they delay? There's no info, unless I missed it. If its a Marketing desicion then they've just ****ed off their entire market. People would have bought this and PS3s once its released but now many are thinking why bother.

I now trust nothing from Sony. I'd say March '12 for release... :shifty:

Personally, I think it is a marketing decision, as CoD Black Ops comes out a few days after GT5 was set to be released, and most people will choose that. Just have patience. It will come out before Duke Nukem Forever. :p

It's still coming out before Christmas anyway. Read the Europe and US PlayStation blogs:

We are sorry to say that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available on the previously announced release date of November 3rd, but the game will be released before Christmas. We sincerely apologise to GT fans for the delay, however creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating a racing experience of the highest quality.

We are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches later this year.

We?ll have more information for you in the near future.

We can confirm that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available this November 2nd, but the game?s release will be coming this holiday season.

As the drama surrounding the delay of the PlayStation 3?s flagship title spreads around the web, one very important question remains unanswered: why? An official explanation will most likely never be issued, but that won?t stop me from trying to figure out this puzzle. First up, Taku Imasaki (North American GT5 producer) offers a vague look at what?s been happening on the ?inside? via an interview with the New York Times:

?We?re really close, but this was an executive decision that was made yesterday. Realistically, we thought we had a good date. We?re not happy over here.?

This somewhat confusing statement wasn?t lost on the Times editor, who didn?t hesitate to add ?there was also speculation that Sony might not have sufficient supplies of the game to meet demand in November?. This speculation was later supported by a comment from a Sony Canada spokesperson to Reuters Canada, clearly stating that ?production difficulties were to blame for the delay?.

On a more positive note, I have been privately informed that review copies of GT5 were only briefly postponed and should still be in reviewer?s hands within the next few weeks. I can also report Sony is targeting a new release window within approximately 8-12 days after November 26th (?Black Friday? in the United States).

Keeping in mind that Sony presses their own Blu-Ray discs, and production time at each facility is carefully divided and scheduled between all of the company?s movies and games for the holiday season, Polyphony Digital may have missed an important production window that has now put both companies in a difficult position. Regardless of what?s really going on, Yamauchi has personally apologized to fans via Twitter:

?Apologies for the delay. It?s because time and labor were spent ironing the kinks out of a complex system. I?m really sorry. Everyone, it?s inexcusable? Wait a little longer.?

We?ll find out exactly how long a ?little longer? is very soon.

Source.

It's sounding good. :)

Quick update to the post:

An associate journalist of GameReactor, Gregor Wildermann, is currently in Tokyo and offers an even more detailed explanation of what happened via communication with Polyphony Digital:

[Kazunori Yamauchi's] reply was that the game was only three days late from their side, and that Sony has to decide what that means for the release.

    • OpenAI is rolling out a major upgrade to ChatGPT memory by Pradeep Viswanathan OpenAI is rolling out a major upgrade to ChatGPT's memory, making the system more capable, current, and scalable across long-term use. Memory allows ChatGPT to remember useful details about users, including their preferences, projects, and constraints. Instead of starting every conversation from scratch, ChatGPT can use this context to provide more relevant responses in future chats. OpenAI first launched saved memories in February 2024. That feature allowed users to explicitly ask ChatGPT to save information into its memory, such as travel plans or writing preferences. However, this system had limits because it depended heavily on users giving clear instructions to remember something. Additionally, saved memories could become stale over time. In April 2025, OpenAI expanded memory by allowing ChatGPT to reference past chat context outside the saved memories list. This was powered by a background process called “dreaming,” which automatically curates memories from chat history. This made ChatGPT better at learning from natural conversation without requiring users to manually save every detail. Today, OpenAI announced a more capable and compute-efficient memory architecture built on top of dreaming. This new system improves ChatGPT’s ability to carry forward useful context, follow user preferences, and remain accurate as time passes. According to OpenAI’s internal evaluations, the new system improves factual recall from 67.9% in 2025 to 82.8% in 2026. Preference adherence improves from 55.3% to 71.3%, while accuracy over time improves from 52.2% to 75.1%. The best part of this new system is a new memory summary page where users can review ChatGPT's memories. Users can even update details, correct information, or give instructions on what topics ChatGPT should bring up and when. This new, improved memory system is available to ChatGPT Plus and Pro users in the US starting today. It will roll out to more countries, as well as Free and Go users, in the coming weeks.
    • I work for a video production company in Australia. The camera operators shoot footage and then pass the SD card over to the editors. Much easier than handing over the entire camera. Plus, on a busy day you can hand off the SD card and then pop another in for the next shoot. Or, you might have used multiple SD cards because you need the extra space for a long shoot. I also use USB cables and wifi for transferring footage, but in many cases an SD card reader is the easiest method.
