Microsoft in typical fashion was like "the people who do use this product seem to like it but overall we have few users so lets can the whole project rather than helping it reach the target audience"
Theyre doing the opposite with windows 11 where people are loudly asking for what they want and microsoft is like "but how can we make it worse or add ads to it"
Nobody is forcing anyone to run Windows / Office. I'm sure all these councils have thoroughly investigated and trialled the target platform and made sure that it meets all the business requirements. I'm sure the CTO proposing this knows what they are doing.
Linux, OnlyOffice and PostgreSQL all have Enterprise version that come with support so not so relevant? Lots of OpenSource things come with an enterprise version for support.
