Retailers are calling on Microsoft to release its new Kinect motion camera for under ?100, despite reports that the device costs $150 to manufacture.

HMV?s games chief Tim Ellis, told MCV that without the right price the device will never go mass market.

?Kinect is likely to find a significant audience with a market-responsive price,? he said.

Morrison?s games buyer Nick Sultanti said that any price under three figures will get the consumer very interested.

?Sub-?100 and Kinect will benefit immensely. People are going to compare price points between Move and Kinect, and it would be fairly detrimental if there is a major price discrepancy in favour of Move.?

ShopTo boss Igor Cipolletta added that the lower the price, the better for Microsoft?s install base.

?Predictions of Kinect price being over ?79.99 will do little to engender early adopters and thus affect unit sales in the short to medium term,? he said.

Kinect was announced at E3 last week. It?s due to release in November.

Move can cost more than £100

£30 for Navi

£40 for Move (x2 for games that require it)

£25 for PS Eye

You can buy the bundle but like I said, if you need another Move controller that's another £40.

Kinect is really going to appeal more to the gamers that want to play party games. It's a one off cost & supports more than one person.

Whereas Move is damn pricey for each gamer. Imagine £80 just for 2 Move controllers to play that boxing game alone

I really think a $99 US price would work MUCH better, especially since the 360 hardware is falling behind the PS3 hardware at this point and with the Move coming out, it needs to be competitive or A LOT more people are going to go to the PS3

I think with the target market of Kinect it makes sense about the sub ?100 price because it makes it more attractive as a bit of an impulse buy.

And all these people complaining about the Move cost when you factor everything together, i thought you guys liked this kind of modularity? At least that's the impression i got when people were complaining about the lack of Wi-Fi included in the old 360? ;)

It's perfectly fine (just look at the Wii, you need to buy nun-chuck and wiimote separate), but Sony takes the cake when you need 2 Moves, a camera and a navi controller. This is why the old Sega add-ons failed as well. Poorly priced and barely any games made use of them.

Even if you buy the bundle, you still have to add ?30 for Navigation.

    • Alien Isolation 2 will bring a new protagonist and setting, watch the reveal trailer here by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Only a few weeks ago, Sega and Creative Assembly dropped a teaser for a new Alien Isolation. Today at Summer Game Fest, Alien: Isolation 2 was officially announced with a new trailer while also confirming a whole lot of information about the setting of this survival horror project. Check out the reveal trailer above. Leaving behind the Sevastopol space station, the sequel will take players to a remote colony world. With a Xenomorph (or more) on the loose, players will be navigating both the surface of the weather-ravaged planet as well as "the claustrophobic confines of the Weyland-Yutani outpost of Kurosaki Station." Interestingly, Creative Assembly is leaving behind Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Alien's Ellen Ripley, as the protagonist too. While it hasn't confirmed a name yet, players will be taking the role of a new character for this new adventure. The setting is also being described as a new hunting ground for the Alien. This will have players improvising and developing new tools to aid in their survival and escape, all to avoid "cinema’s deadliest killer." "It has been over a decade since we created the original Alien: Isolation and I am so excited to show everyone the first glimpse of the sequel," says Al Hope, Creative Director at Creative Assembly. "Our dedicated Survival team at Creative Assembly has been working hard to create a new, evolved Isolation experience continuing the legacy of the Alien franchise, making the eponymous killer smarter, the environment harsher and the chance of survival slimmer." Promising the same deadly tension from the original from over a decade ago, Alien: Isolation 2 is in development for PC, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5. A release date has not been announced yet.

    • Hello, From looking at the screen shots in your motherboard's manual at https://endownload.colorful.cn/EnDownload/MotherBroard/2022/Intel 600/Manual/Intel 600 Series BIOS English/Intel 600 Series BIOS User Guide.pdf, you go to the ADVANCED option at the top of the BIOS (UEFI) menu, then select SECURITY in the list of options on the left.  From there  you can enable and set the Secure Boot mode.
