What do you guys think? Should I keep editing the initial post to add the deals you guys add? I think it would make it easier than scrolling through the topic, especially later on. Also, should I strikethrough the dead deals or delete them altogether?

I dunno... the more I see that thread the more I wished it would just have the information in the first post. I think in the old board it would lock after a while so you couldn't edit it at all but now you can. I think I'll stick to updating the first post so it's simple to find the current deals.

I prefer actually reading new posts (aka scrolling through the topic) rather than having to rely on you to update the topic with the new deals post. But that is just my opinion. I am not saying don't update the first post, that is up to you, but people should not have to rely on you to update if a great deal just gets posted and they are looking at the first post rather than the last few new posts.

This would also allow people to give +1 rep for their post and them having found it then sharing it.

I can't delete other people's posts so they'll still be there for you to +1 as much as you'd like. I will try to keep the first post updated as people post in this thread or I find a deal. Also, new people posting on this thread will bump the thread, so hopefully it'll stay near the top.

You're creating too much work for yourself doing that. Imagine how many deals are in those 180+ pages and how much you'd have to keep on top of it to make sure they are still valid, while adding more to the pile. Plus it requires you to be a member for the indefinite future :p If for whatever reason you lose interest or you're banned then nobody else but you (or a mod of course) can edit the OP. Asking someone else to take over isn't gonna happen either imo lol.

It's messy, which is why I never cataloged them. The time is better spent finding new deals and just adding them in a new post. Or do what I do and collect a few deals at once to post.

fyi: The old board allowed you to edit the OP as much as you wanted whenever you wanted. It's not a new feature.

Edit: Also I'm not sure if notifications can be sent when the OP is updated, or only when new comments are made. So it's not helpful to those that subscribe to topics.

If I keel over dead, new posts will still be added to the end and people can still scroll there to get the information. If someone other than me posts a deal, then the topic gets bumped, so the subscribers will get notified. If I make an update I'll post it at the end and edit the first post.
