Need to know regarding Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile processors. Is there any difference between the two sockets? I am able to find one topic on another forum about this and it mentioned that they are both the same, PGA478 being used as abbreviation for PPGA478.

Copying text from the packaging specifications below as example:

Intel? Core?2 Duo Processor T7250 (2M Cache, 2.00 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)

Sockets Supported PBGA479, PPGA478

Intel? Core?2 Duo Processor T9300 (6M Cache, 2.50 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)

Sockets Supported BGA479, PGA478

Intel? Core?2 Duo Processor T9500 (6M Cache, 2.60 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)

Sockets Supported BGA479, PGA478, PPGA478

Not interested in BGA479, just need to confirm that PGA478/PPGA478 are both the same please. Another thing I would like to ask, T7250 above is based on 65nm with 35W TDP - same TDP remains for T9300 and T9500 but they are 45nm based. So what kind of temperature difference will be there between T7250 and T9300 or T9500?

Yes they are functionally identical, extra P just meaning plastic.
