Hey All,

I recently setup XP mode on my Win 7 64-bit laptop to use different versions of IE to test web page layouts. The install worked find and I'm able to run IE6, IE7, and IE8 on my laptop with the former two in XP mode. The only issue I'm having is that I can't move the XP mode windows over to my extended display on the external monitor. If I try, the cursor stops at the edge of my laptop display and I don't see any portion of the XP mode window on the other monitor.

I have an ASUS laptop with an NVidia GeForce 9600M GS display adapter with my laptop on the right and my external (extended desktop) monitor on the left.

Has anyone else had this happen and found a way around it?

Instead of running the full XP VM, try copying the shortcuts to launch your Xp's IE instances into XP's "All Users" Start Menu and they should show as apps you can launch from Windows 7 and will run as windowed in Win7 then you should be able to drag each to different monitors.

He is running in that mode already, it doesn't let you drag them to some monitors on multiple monitor setups. I have 3 monitors across 2 video cards and it works on the first monitor on each card, but not the second monitor on the card.

Yes, that is exactly the situation I'm having. If I just run XP mode (not from an application shortcut), then I can move the full XP window to either monitor. It's only when I use the windowed application XP mode that it gets stuck on the laptop monitor. It's not a huge deal, it would just be nice to be able to move those IE windows to my larger monitor. If SP1 will fix this, then I'll just suffer until then.

Thanks!
