iPod Touch Issues Updating to iOS4

Recommended Posts

This all started when I could not update my iPod Touch 2G to iOS4 from 3.1.3. Everytime I tried too it said that it unknown errors, could not contact the update server ect. Anyway so had a look around the internet and forums, and people were advised to put the iPod Touch into restore mode and then restore it, which in turn will update it to iOS4 aswell. I tried this and the bar got about 98% full and it said once again, and unknown error occured. The iTouch was then stuck on the screen of the bar being about 98% full and I could not do nothing. So I held the home and power button and it is now completely stuck in restore mode. When I say stuck it is actually stuck, because I cannot restore it (because iTunes doesn't give me the option to just restore it, it will restore then update aswell) I cannot do anything as I am getting the The iPod "iPod" cannot be restored at this time because the iPod software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable. I have tried downloaded the 3.1.3 firmware and restoring too that, but it says "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible" even though it clearly is as I downloaded the firmware which is correct for my iPod Touch (2G and 3.1.3 firmware). Could anyone help please?
