I think this is going to be really close and we might get the announcement of LFC going into administration some time today if RBS doesn't show some more patience.. I doubt everything could be wrapped up this fast.. judgement is expected mid-day today.. is that midday in the US or the UK?

Liverpool co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett have removed the restraining order preventing the club's sale to New England Sports Ventures.

However, the move is not designed to help NESV seal its ?300m deal, but to aid Hicks in his attempt to sell his stake to US hedge fund Mill Financial.

The club is hoping to tie up a deal with NESV on Friday, but Hicks believes he can still scupper its plan.

Mill could then pay off the ?237m debt owed to Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).

NESV's deal was being held up by the restraining order, which was issued by a court in Texas. The court is set to resume its hearing at 1300 BST on Friday, when it is expected that the order will be officially lifted.

BBC Sport understands the overnight adjournment in proceedings in the US was to enable Hicks to have more time in his attempt to strike a deal with Mill Financial.

BBC Sports editor David Bond said: "The restraining order prevents any other buyer - such as Mill - from paying off the ?237m loan to Royal Bank of Scotland, due on Friday, because it binds RBS as well as the board of Liverpool and its parent companies based in the UK. "

Now it appears as though Mill - who already own co-owner George Gillett's stake in the club - and NESV are vying for control of the Anfield club, with Reds chairman Martin Broughton and managing director Christian Purslow both saying on Friday they are "confident" a deal with NESV will go through.

they give up...for now!

Liverpool's co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett accept defeat in their attempts to block the club's sale, but say they will pursue damages of ?1bn.

They removed the restraining order preventing the club's sale in a Dallas court on Friday, paving the way for the sale to New England Sports Ventures.

NESV, the board's choice as Liverpool's new owners, now look set to complete their ?300m purchase of the club.

It is rather disappointing however that the club's board don't appear to be considering the offer from Mr Lim.

because they probably don't want some dumbass billionaire who doesn't know **** (like hicks and gillette) promising a bunch of **** and never pulling through. Instead they have an experienced corp in terms of sports franchise wanting to take over the team who they probably have a lot more faith in. I don't really think the board memnber's concern at this point is money. RBS for sure, not the board, they need to recover the team and finding stability is the first step. As much as I would love to have chelski/man city money, rappy is right, it's completely ruining the game and just going on a spending binge like all the other top teams in Europe (who are all pretty much broke anyways) obviously isn't something they want to get themselves into.

New England Sports Ventures has completed its takeover of Liverpool Football Club, BBC Sport understands.

The move comes after former owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett removed the temporary restraining order blocking any sale on Friday morning.

That allowed NESV, owners of the American baseball side Boston Red Sox, to complete its ?300m purchase.

Hicks and Gillett, however, have vowed to pursue ?1bn in damages from the club, arguing the deal is "illegal".

The American pair say they will "pursue every legal avenue" to claim damages for what they believe is an "extraordinary swindle".

Still, there was an air of relief as news of NESV's completed purchase emerged - a move that will allow major creditors Royal Bank of Scotland to be paid the ?237m they are owed on Friday.

That, in turn, means Liverpool's holding company are unlikely now to be put into administration, a move which could have resulted in a nine-point penalty in the Premier League.

Good news. I'm not a Liverpool fan (if anything I dislike them), but had Hicks etc been able to make a mockery of this, then it would have set a dangerous example for football IMO.

While we are here though, spare a thought for Dundee, who have sacked their manager, assistant manager and quite a lot of players after going into administration owing around £2m. Nothing compared to the figures talked about here.

Yeah it would be nice if someone rich would help rescue small clubs I mean recently Ilkeston went out of business with debts on ?47k, that's chump change to nearly all EPL players

So i may be in england in march and i'm going to try my ass off to get liverpool vs man u tickets at anfield (i don't care if i have to paid a grand for them) but then i was thinking if i waited until next year tickets will be dirt cheap cause they'll be relegated. (oh that hurts...)

Football is business nowadays, and if you don't hit your targets you go down the crapper. It's sad, but it's gonna keep happening.

business is an understatement, they are public run companies on the stock market, nothing like that happens over here. The thought of that is crazy.

yeah :( clubs like Liverpool and West Ham will always be rescued due to their fanbase but its just sad the lower league clubs go...my local town club nearly went out of business with small debts.

I guess that just like a lot of small businesses that go bust, very few people bar the local proprietors actually care, sad but again inevitable. It's a shame what money has turned sport into these days.

EPIC SWINDLE

I'm quite glad it is all over, although something tells me there will be a few more court dates from desperate Hicks.

It brings a huge sigh of relief that Hicks and Gillett have now gone. Hopefully we can now just concentrate on the footballing aspects - which is what 'football' is all about.

I have never wanted a billionaire owner in the Chelsea of Man City mould. I don't want to spend hundreds of millions of pounds on players in ONE summer. I'd much prefer to belong to a well run club that only spends what it generates - something which Man Utd did before the Glazers took over.

We should all be together in this, we should all be against modern football.

Still... part of me feels like the damage to Liverpool Football Club is too much, I don't feel like I really *belong* to the club anymore. Hopefully this feeling will return...

Is it because England's saviour has been **** since summer?

pretty much, but fergy going out lieing saying it's due to injury isn't helping the situation when clearly he is being sat because he's playing like **** right now.

    • This is weird. Mythos is more unrestricted compared to Fable. Technically it poses more risk!!
    • This is a great thing, I always have issues with Verizon while inside of certain football stadiums due to the saturation and walls blocking signal so a LOS way to connect would be great. Verizon was supposed to be offering sat data this year but I've not heard a word of it lately. Dude is sending rockets into space in a cheap manner, low waste foot print and has a great product with solar/battery tech. We would be so far behind China right now if not for him and a push to get back into space.
    • illegally? Proof of that? Seems you are posting misinformation or well a pure straight up lie cause there is zero proof of such a thing. But I get it...
