This from the BBC..

Manchester United have been informed that Wayne Rooney will not sign a new contract with the club, according to reports from the Press Association.

The 24-year-old striker's current deal runs out in the summer of 2012 and it is understood negotiations over a new contract have broken down.

There has been speculation that Rooney will be sold in the January transfer window, with Real Madrid interested.

However, United's response was to label that claim as "nonsense".

Rooney's relationship with United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been under scrutiny in recent weeks.

I read on the Guardian website that he might be sold for ?50M.. I have an idea who might go for him.. not Barca coz they are broke.. Madrid has too many striker.. so does City but that's not stopped them before and with Ade wanting out we might see Rooney as his replacement but Fergie would never sell him to City I feel.. Harry also likes to collect strikers but I feel Rooney would feel Tottenham is a step backwards... will be very interesting to see where he ends up if this is true..

Man United have a policy of not selling their players to rival English clubs, my guess is he will go abroad if he leaves united.

AC Milan would be a good fit

Potentially, however I am not sure the slower pace and more defensive style of the Italian league would really fit his strengths. Personally I think he'd be more suited to Spanish football.

true, I would like to see him partner Pato, but yeah your right the only problem is Barca's financial woes and Madrid having to many strikers so that leaves Valencia and Ath Madrid both probably couldn't afford him....swap deal with Aguero? :p

Didn't even realise Barca where in financial trouble :p

There's no such thing for Madrid ;)

..and Barcelona are hardly broke they will afford Fabregas :shifty:

I don't think he will go to a different league. Some people are saying that he is just not smart enough to learn a new language, and might just want to stick with EPL. Life in a new country is not as easy as people think, even if you have all the money in the world. But what the paper is saying, Chelsea, or ManC?... ManC maybe, cuz of his new salary, but Chelsea, no way, i do not see him coming to Chelsea, even though I would love him to. I'd be very surprised to hear of him signing for Chelsea in Jan....

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that striker Wayne Rooney wants to leave Manchester United.

The Old Trafford boss admitted he was "shocked" and "disappointed" to hear the news but said he had not fallen out with the England international.

Ferguson says the "door is still open" for Rooney, 24, to stay at the club he joined from Everton in 2004.

Rooney's contract with the Premier League giants is due to end at the end of the 2011/12 season.

"We are as bemused as anyone can be, we can't quite understand why he would want to leave," Ferguson told a news conference.

Manchester United are due to face Bursaspor in the Champions League on Wednesday but Rooney will not be involved after being stretchered off at the end of training on Tuesday.

Rooney's future has been the subject of intense speculation over the last few days following reports that the England striker was not prepared to sign a new contract.

In an interview with MUTV filmed before he spoke to the media, Ferguson said Manchester United chief executive David Gill had told him about Rooney's decision not to sign a new deal back in the summer.

"I was in the office on 14 August and David phoned me to say he (Rooney) wasn't signing a contract," said Ferguson.

"I was dumbfounded. Only months before he was saying he was at the greatest club in the world.

"I asked to have a meeting with the boy. He reiterated what his agent said, that he wanted to go."

There is no way he is going to City. I think Fergie would sooner rot than sell rooney to City. Remember how big a deal he made of heinze trying to go to liverpool. I'm thinking more than likely Madrid in some sort of swap deal

I read it was going to be Diarra &/Or Benzema plus cash. It's unlikely but so was Rooney leaving United a couple of weeks ago

I would take Benzema plus cash but Benzema is a bit overated

    • Limited Prime Day deal sees Amazon Echo Show 11 is at its lowest price yet by Ivan Jenic The Amazon Echo Show 11 is currently $149.99 on Amazon during Prime Day, down from $219.99. That's 32% off and $70 saved on Amazon's newest mid-size smart display (purchase link below). As its name suggests, the Echo Show 11 features a 11” Full-HD touchscreen, which is a decent upgrade over the Echo Show 8. It offers 60% more viewing area, which makes a genuine difference for recipes, calendars, video calls, or any other scenario where the smaller display can feel a bit cramped. The Show 11 is built around Alexa+, Amazon's more capable AI assistant that can handle natural conversation. You can make reservations, order groceries, and find content based on your preferences, instead of always having to give it precise commands. There’s also the Omnisense technology, which adds ambient awareness, allowing the device to trigger routines based on temperature, presence detection, or visual cues. Smart home control is built in without needing a separate hub, and the home screen doubles as a photo slideshow when not in use. Taking all of this into account, the Show 11 is a perfect smart addition to your kitchen counter or living room. At $149.99, this is a strong Prime Day buy for anyone already in the Amazon ecosystem or looking to build one out. • Dang that sucks. I just started using this feature instead of Pushbullet.
    • I use my devices until the very end. I used my old desktop computer for 16 years, my OnePlus 5T phone for 8 years and my LG Gram laptop for 7 years. Even though they are still working, there are no more security updates for most of them (Windows 7 ESU, Android 12 ROM and the LG Gram because I wanted an ARM based laptop).
