IGN is US only sale figures.

Nice now that the whole get-along gang got the APB and done patting each other on the back...

Yes, it is "sad". When the best thing on the 360 in 09 was an xbla game Shadow Complex, Forza and multiconsole releases such as AC2 and MW2, not to mention Batman:AA which one best 360 title , another multiconsole rls.

Sad, indeed.

I don't think MS has pushed Sony as much as they've gotten too comfortable with the lead they established. It's the Turtle vs Rabbit race... MS dropped the ball in 09. Sony simply capitalized.

Just pointing out my original argument, These numbers don't surprises me after witnessing the drastic decrease in MS' performance in 09.

Not our fault your views are so far out of whack that no one can make sense of them never mind agree on them.

So you guys predicted MS to lay practically dormant for over a year, allowing Sony to gain ground?

Sounds like they're even now eh? Sony started a year late while MS later takes a year off themselves.

Yea, totally saw his coming..

I expected Sony to completely crush MS in Japan sooner and possibly do the same in Europe sooner, especially with the RROD coming close to crippling the 360's reputation. I'm glad Sony is catching up but the real question comes down to what will happen Kinect/Move and which company will reveal its next platform first. We are in the tail end of this generation and everything/everyone is going to start looking forward in the next year or so.

Yea, best thing MS did was extend its warranty. Without it, they would've kissed their first year headstart goodbye. Pretty much kept their consumers at bay by doing so. With that, there was really no reason to invest in a whole other 'nex-gen' console just a year later. Especially one with an insane pricetag with new technology no dev wanted to come near lol.

The whole Move/Kinect will be interesting to see whether people will invest in a new gimmick, or an upgraded version of an already successful one.For me, 360/Ps3 is synonymous with hardcore gamer, which imo gives the slight advantage to the Move. All while trying to hijack the Wii casual/family fanbase. Seems like a win/win formula. It's all on Sony pricing and marketing now...

Well, as it stands Kinect is a better price for its capability despite the entry for Move being cheaper. Still, the real question comes down to how will the devs utilize this tech. Move really can't go anywhere with just being an improved Wiimote. It needs something that it can claim as its own, that it does better and nothing else can do. Devs need to cling to that part of it, use it and enhance their games (enhance, not build around it). And, if these things happen we might get something completely new next generation. If not, then the next generation will leave the devices behind.

You could say Sony dropped the ball all the previous years then, Que 360 Slim which we already know is selling ridiculus and then throw a new Halo into the equation. People may dislike it but it sells more then half the PS3 A1 exclusives combined and will push more consoles out the door then any other game this year. Microsoft know how to advertise a product and well.

I didn't realize Halo 3: ODST did that well... I haven't noticed as much Halo hype as there used to be.

I don't doubt Reach will sell well.

But i think people are already feeling the burn from it already.

I had 1-3 and noway I'd spend a dime on another installment personally.

The Madden of first person shooters...

That would be Call of Duty, not Halo. Every halo has offered new features, game modes, storylines, mechanics, etc. A majority of Halo games were released with 3-5 year dev cycles. I'm pretty sure Madden/NFL/NCAA games aren't like that. It is foolish to even compare them to each other.

Meh, it's all good. That's exactly how I would've described CoD.

We're a bit off topic with that though.

I still feel Halo is on the decline. And last I read, ODST wasn't all that great. Reach may sell well, but I don't think it will make a significant difference.

You do realize that Black Ops is on the PS3 too, right? And move is on the way as well. Along with FFXIV, The Agency and DC Universe.

you make this sound like COD Black Ops and FFXIV are BIG CONSOLE TITLES>

the fact is big deal there on a console any real player will be cought playing these on there PC instead.

Faster/Better Looking/ Oh and Dedicated Servers, (FFXIV will have there realem servers as well) COd BLack Ops did infact letting other once again HOST Dedication server >

The above titles will nto drive up console sale. so it not a big deal to ether compenie

COD is, it's one othe biggest game franchises around! And all downloadable content is exclusive to 360, or so I believe. As for FF, it's a huge game with a big following and it's shift to the 360 says something.

I don't know I'm just replying to him and my prediction it'll do better on PS3 than Windows.

Pretty sure he isn't talking about 13 though.

It will sell "less" on Windows, but there will be more copies running on Windows than PS3. cool.gif

Wow...sad to see all the corporate lap dogging here.

At this point its obvious that Sony has ALL the momentum behind them. Kinect could be a hit or a miss, while Move is a safe bet imho, and its clear that the PS3 has a better game lineup heading into the Christmas season this year.

It's the same in any 'sales' thread tbh. All I know is that I've been happy with my PS3 purchase and really looking forward to GT5 coming out now. Between the release of the machine and it FINALLY arriving, I've managed to play some great multi-platform games and some amazing exclusives. Can't complain really :)

What, all 2 games? LBP2 and GT5?

    • Dbrand thought they could get away with this Steam Machine case, Valve disagreed by David Uzondu Image via Dbrand Dbrand has cancelled its highly anticipated Companion Cube enclosure for the Valve Steam Machine, which it teased back in November of last year with a concept render and sign-up page, because it did not ask Valve for permission first before manufacturing the case. According to Dbrand, it took the "backwards approach" of building the product first before asking for permission from the copyright holder. Seven months of work went into the project, requiring over a thousand engineering hours from the design team. Workers developed forty-four sets of injection molding tools, making a unique mold for each sub-component of the crate. When the Companion Cube went live on Monday last week, it, according to Dbrand, quickly became the second-fastest-selling product in the company's fifteen-year history, racking up orders for hundreds of thousands of units. Customers eagerly bought the $129.95 deluxe edition or the bare-bones $99.95 version, which the manufacturer cheekily branded as the "Poverty Cube". It was around this time that the legal eagles at Valve descended on the accessory maker with a formal demand. The developer pointed out that the iconic block design remains protected intellectual property from the game Portal, so unlicensed sales had to stop. Dbrand said that all its pleas to salvage the project with the Valve team, including proposals to run a properly licensed release under official terms "with their blessing", fell on deaf ears, so it had no choice but to obey and remove every trace of the product from the internet. If you bought the enclosure, the company said that banks will process your refund by the end of this week, but if it still hasn't arrived in your account by then, you should not hesitate to contact support. The Steam Machine itself is a high-performance console that Valve designed directly to bring PC gaming into the living room. It was announced on 12th November 2025 (the same day Dbrand announced the Cube) and runs on the Linux-based SteamOS, the same OS that powers the Steam Deck. As for the price, due to the shortage of memory and storage chips, the hardware cost landed much higher than people were expecting, starting at $1,049 for the 512 model (without a controller) or $1,128 with the new gamepad. The premium 2 TB model pushes those prices even higher, selling at $1,349 for the standalone console and hitting $1,428 if you want the bundle.
    • It's listed #399.99 on Amazon, per your link. It's not $299.99.
    • Wonder how much of this it related to them using something like Mythos. It seems everybody is releasing large numbers of updates in the last few weeks.
